Analysis of the Impact of Social Networking Sites and Media on Students

One of the vibrant network, the majority of the people get connected irrespective of place, age, profession is Social Network. Among the Indian college students the usage of Social Networking Sites (SNS) has rapidly increased in recent years. Social Networking Sites (SNSs) have created a new social dimension where individuals can enrich their social awareness by providing and gathering information. SNSs are dominating all internet users’, especially the students’ community. This study investigates the usage and the purpose of SNSs among the college students. According to latest UN report, India has 356 million youth with age between 10 and 24 years and is the world’s largest youth population despite having a smaller population than China. Most of the research said that Social Networking and Social Media are very much utilized by the youth of India. This study clearly analyse the usefulness of Social Networking and Social Media with many influencing factors such as age, time of usage, amount spent, place and gender.
