This work approximates the reduction of total harmon-ic distortion and selective harmonic minimization using 61-level cas-caded multilevel inverter by manual generation of switching angles using MATLAB/SIMULINK. The switching angles are mathemati-cally calculated. This method provides a lower total harmonic distor-tion without using controllers and lower order harmonics are mini-mized. The input for the inverter is from pv cell. This is able to per-form in real time (50-/60-Hz time window).
