Cotton seed oil (CSO) is chosen as a potential non-edible vegetable oil for the production of biodiesel. Here the biodiesel was prepared from cotton seed oil by transesterification process. The biodiesel prepared from cottonseed has low emission rate which will help in environmental protection. In ISRO a bank of cylinders is being used to store air which is used as an ejector fluid. As the mass stored is having a limitation the test duration also being limited based on the combustor by different engines testing. Kerosene combustors are procured for preheating the ejector fluid by increasing the energy of the ejector medium. Here the kerosene combustor is modified to biodiesel for heating the stored air. This paper focuses on how the injector and combustion liner is designed for biodiesel combustor.

Abstract

Cotton seed oil (CSO) is chosen as a potential non-edible vegetable oil for the production of biodiesel. Here the biodiesel was prepared from cotton seed oil by transesterification process. The biodiesel prepared from cottonseed has low emission rate which will help in environmental protection. In ISRO a bank of cylinders is being used to store air which is used as an ejector fluid. Kerosene combustors are procured for preheating the ejector fluid by increasing the energy of the ejector medium. Here the kerosene combustor is modified to biodiesel for heating the stored air. This paper focuses on how the injector and combustion liner is designed for biodiesel combustor.
