Fluidized bed combustor is a modern technology to burn solid fuels including the bio-fuels, coal, petroleum coke etc. In FBC air is forced through a bed of inert material and fuel at a velocity that causes the bed to become fluidized. Combustion of petcoke (100%), it is mixed with limestone for suitable molar ratio of Ca/S(calcium/sulphur)ratio. In this experimental study of petcoke firing, the convection contributes 70% to 80% and the radiation contributes 5% to 20% of the outside heat transfer co-efficient (ho). Petcoke is co-fired with coal (singaronei coal) and limestone, higher boiler capacity, improved efficiency, less smoke and less ash handling. In 100% petcoke firing sox emission is 1181.5 ppm and Nox rate is 101 ppm and the combustion efficiency is 45.72% whereas the petcoke and coal firing the sox rate is 946.5 ppm and Nox rate is 89.5 ppm and the combustion efficiency is 61.95% so the petcoke mixed with coal combustion is higher efficiency and environmental friendly.
