Development of Grinding Wheel Using Nano-Materials

An attempt has been in the present work to fabricate a grinding wheel using nano particles. Traditionally alumina plays a vital role in grinding wheels, hence alumina nano particles were successfully synthesized. For synthesis of alumina nanoparticles ball milling process was used. Nano alumina particles of 30nm were synthesized at 40 hours. The material grain size and composition was confirmed using SEM and EDAX. Using these nano alumina particles a grinding wheel was formed by combining micro-sized Alumina with bond (Nano Alumina) and binders (Dextrin).
