Abstract

A dc-dc boost converter combining the configuration of resonant half- bridge and full bridge phase-shifted Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) is introduced in order to ensure the switches in the leading-leg operating at zero-voltage switching from true zero load to full-load and the switches in the lagging leg working at zero-current switching to minimize switching and circulating conduction losses. The converter achieves high efficiency and true soft switching for the entire operation range, which is very important for high voltage electric vehicle battery charger application. The operation of the desired converter both in the open loop and closed loop configurations is demonstrated through simulation and experimental results.
