The finality of a serious, studious, strenuous and long-waiting process is over once a PhD thesis is submitted. The viva examination is the culmination of the PhD process. However, it is important to prepare carefully for this final and important hurdle. In this paper, we look at the different stages of the viva examination, which include undertaking a careful and systematic preparation. Also, the sufferings and plight of a PhD candidate during the so called waiting period between the submission and final public viva are highlighted. This preparation involves gaining a comprehensive awareness of the university procedure for the viva, researching examiners, and considering the value of having a mock viva. The paper explores the actual viva and makes suggestions to deal effectively with questioning from the examiners. Finally, the results of the viva and steps needed to address corrections are discussed.

A research proposal describes planned research activities. It is the plan submitted to an institutional Review Board for review and may be submitted to a sponsor for research support. The research plan includes a description of the research design or methodology, how prospective subjects are chosen, a description of what will happen during the study and what data analysis will be used on the data collected. Whether proposal receives funding will rely in large part on whether the purpose and goals closely match the priorities of granting agencies. Locating possible grantors is a time consuming task, but in the long run it will yield the greatest benefits... This paper aims in explaining how the proposal should be drafted keeping the key elements in mind. Keywords

Blooms Taxonomy is the most widely used and applied one in higher education today. This paper is roughly divided into three parts: need to use Bloom s Taxonomy, role of ICT in English language learning and Web resources for developing language skills. Blooms Taxonomy for Higher Education can be evoked in this context. The paper focuses on the use of internet resources in designing a curriculum for English language teaching as a skill as opposed to teaching English as a subject. This leads us to the need to develop Critical Thinking.

Information and communications technology adds value to learning by providing real-world contexts for learning; connections to outside experts; visualizations and analysis tools; scaffolds for problem solving; and opportunities for feedback, reflection, and revision. Framework that is focused on standards, engaged learning, on teachers developing curriculum locally, and on professional development in which teacher trainers build capacity as they become experts and take that expertise into their local school systems. This paper provides a review of existing policy guidelines as well as a short discussion of possible project guidelines centered on Professional Development for in-service teachers, and it describes several innovative approaches to integrating ICT into curriculum. This paper does not address pre-service education, although many of the concepts can be integrated into a teacher education program. The paper builds upon tools that already exist and revise those tools as needed to the national, regional, and local contexts of project stakeholders. It is vital to provide ongoing professional development so that all educators will participate in decisions about learning and technology.

As more students choose to study from remote locations, on their own schedules and for individual purposes, course content, student-faculty interaction, library and other student support services will be provided electronically as well as in person. For this, the technology goals should be based on organizational goals. Because of this, the programs will become more flexible to accommodate life-long learning for a variety of students: on-campus and distance learners, full and part-time students; those requiring ongoing professional development and those require special access due to disabilities. Ongoing research into the feasibility and effectiveness of existing and emerging technologies and their applications in learning will be part of the commitment to lifelong learning, adding to the capabilities of faculty and to the body of knowledge available to global educators. Such research, together with leadership in technology-enabled teaching, will enhance the reputation as a globally-renowned centre of learning. The administrative systems will accommodate and support both faculty and students in this technology-enabled, “learning-on-demand” environment. Thus the present paper focuses on how the technology works as the lever for the paradigm of learning.

The growth of scientific and technical knowledge has prompted scientists, engineers, social scientists, and humanists to join in addressing complex problems that must be attacked simultaneously with deep knowledge from different perspectives - inter-disciplinary research. Inter-disciplinary research areas like Biomedical Informatics, Bioinformatics, Bioengineering, Nano-biotechnology, Biometric, Robotics, Biophysical chemistry has a lot to offer in terms of opportunities and excitement. Researchers get a wide spectrum of job opportunity as well as funding schemes. Moreover, they get a very good insight in applied aspects of basic sciences. Great reward often comes with challenges and inter-disciplinary research is not an exception. The common challenges and issues faced by inter-disciplinary scientists are: understanding the concepts underlying a discipline other than your own; the language barrier; the lack of expertise in the partner discipline; and the conflicts of interest which poses a great risk on time, budget, schedule and success of research work. Therefore, researcher and supervisor should analyze possible challenges, issues, and risks associated with inter-disciplinary research before any commitment. This paper discusses opportunities, challenges, and risk related with inter-disciplinary research.

With the speed at which technology is changing the world, it is impossible to imagine education in the year 2020 not being immersed in technology. As the new millennium unfolds itself, most people are by now aware that we are in the midst of one of the most dramatic technological revolutions in history that is changing everything, the way in which we work, communicate, transact business, spend our leisure time and what not. The technological revolution centres on computer, information, communication and multimedia technologies, is often interpreted as the beginnings of a knowledge or information society, and therefore ascribes education a central role in every aspect of life. This great transformation poses tremendous challenges to educators to rethink their basic tenets, to deploy the media in creative and productive ways, and to restructure education to respond constructively and progressively to the technological and social changes. With ICT, there are better ways and opportunities to make above principles more realistic learning experiences. ICT encourages interactions, development of collaborative culture and utilization of active learning and introduction of feedback in proper context. Thus this paper deals with the vision of technology and E-Content.

Now days, the students and the parents usually decide to join a university / college based on its reputation, rather than its location. It is evident in the case of BITS, a foremost engineering college in India which is being set up in a very small village named Pilani. B est industries usually recruit candidates from the best universities. This creates more competition within universities, to become the best in the region. Desiring fruitful results, more & more Indian universities are going ahead with various Memorandum Of Understandings (MOU) with various best-in class industries & universities. This creates a gradual improvement in the overall academics & working of those universities, thereby improving their ranking year on year. This article tells an overview on how to improve the reputation of the universities in terms of "soft power" perspective with respect to other universities in the region. This study mainly focuses with respect to Indian context and how the universities benefit out of it.

Its global economy and everyone talks about the “world becoming flat”. This in turn means that there are plenty of opportunities for everyone to become professional and make it big in the corporate world. India as an economy has long marched into the global economy. We have global corporate giants who have set up offices, factories and outlets not just in bigger cities in India but in smaller towns as well. The Indian corporate giants have also grown and spread deeper into India to give a stiff competition to global giants. This directly results in fantastic career options for an aspiring student today. Every company small, medium or big Indian and/or Multi-National Corporations (MNCs) need good talents. The Education sector has grown leaps and bounds. Universities, Deemed Universities, Self Financing Colleges, Government Colleges, International Degree Programs and Institutes that teach Information Technology related subject …. the list goes on. On the face of it, this looks like there is a conscious effort to create supply of professional talent to match the growing corporate talent needs. However, the question is “does our academic curriculum helps create employable professionals or just graduates who have completed a course”? Thus, through this Present Paper, the research scholar makes an attempt to give the statistical study on the issues of KPO sector.
