Abstract
The main objective of soil stabilization in the construction of roads and pavements is to increase the strength or stability of soil and to reduce the construction cost by making best use of the locally available materials. In this paper an attempt is made to study the changes in properties of the soil with the addition of rice husk ash and brick kiln dust at different percentages. Both RHA and BKD are waste materials which will pollute the environment. The properties of the soil studied are maximum dry density, optimum moisture content and California bearing ratio. It is seen that the CBR value has increased considerably with the addition of rise husk ash and brick kiln dust. The CBR value obtained is in accordance with Rural Road Manual IRC SP: 72-2007 for design and construction.
