Abstract
The three major species of cellular RNA molecules - mRNA, tRNA and rRNA - were identified during the golden era of molecular biology in the 1960s and 70s as important mediators in deciphering genetic information in the DNA. Among them, mRNA is the only 'coding' species that carries sequential genetic codes that are translated to the amino acid sequence of proteins.
