Estimation of major crop yield rates at the district level using calibration estimation technique is reported here when auxiliary information is available at the unit level only for the selected villages within each district and when the sampling design under consideration is two-stage equal probability without replacement. An estimator was developed for the complex sampling design under consideration using the calibration approach. Through evaluation using real data collected from a pilot survey, we found that the proposed calibration estimator performs better than the usual design-based Horvitz-Thompson estimator under two-stage sampling design.Keywords

India is an agriculture-based country which has experienced enormous change in food and nutrition utilization since financial changes in the mid-1990s. Agribusiness is considered as the backbone of Indian economy. Therefore, the Indo-Gangetic Plain (IGP) holds agricultural importance, contributing to a major share of our national income. High financial development rates of Indian economy have neglected to enhance food security in the country. The welfare of an expanding economy is not shared equally as the country is still home to one-third of the world’s poor. Hunger in India is considered as a genuine imprint on its development, and food security has now evolved as a principal issue. Presently, agriculture, nutrition, and dietary security are the prime worry for India to accomplish the target of encroachment. A large portion of the Indian population lacks healthy sustenance and nourishment. This article demonstrates nourishment utilization design across selected social and economic groups in the states falling under IGP region of India, which include West Bengal, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana. The analysis helps in distinguishing the disparities among calorie, protein and fat consumption in the IGP region. An effort is made to recognize socio-economic groups suffering from deficiencies in nutrition consumption.Keywords

Apple crop is the predominant temperate fruit in the high hills of Himachal Pradesh (HP), India, primarily due to the ideal temperate climate of the region characterized by high altitude and significant snowfall. This study aims to examine the marketing aspects of apple crops in the high hills of HP, taking into account the complex nature of its marketing patterns. It emphasizes the importance of maintaining a cautious approach within the marketing channel, as any oversight can reduce prices and profits. Additionally, the study examines the arrival trends of apples in the Agricultural Produce Marketing Committee of HP. The findings reveal that the retail channel demonstrated the highest marketing efficiency, followed by the commission agent’s channel, suggesting that reducing the intermediaries in the channel contributes to enhanced marketing efficiency.Keywords
