This article presents the importance of the role of media supervision in corporate governance by adopting stochastic dynamic optimal method of analysis. It also studies the influence of media supervision on embezzlement behaviour of large shareholders. Research demonstrates that when the occupation ratio of large shareholders is low and the intensity of media exposure is not high, fall in the value of firm assets is not obvious and, large shareholders can continue to improve occupation ratio to achieve higher welfare. After the occupation ratio of large shareholders reaches a certain level, their welfare loss because of media exposure damages firm asset value more than their income by occupation. Then, large shareholders continue to improve occupation ratio which will not only prevent maintenance of welfare level, but will also result in welfare loss. If the occupation ratio is improved through unfair means, they must give up illicit occupation. In addition, it further demonstrates that conspiracy of large shareholders and media will make them more likely to improve their own welfare by encroaching upon the interests of small shareholder. Based on the corporate governance practices of listed biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies in China, this article analyses the impact of media supervision upon these entities, products and processes.Keywords

This present article proposes a mechanism and mathematical model of environmental regulation and energy efficiency. Then, it analyses the panel data of 30 provinces in China from 2000 to 2012 by using the super-efficiency DEA model. Empirical results show that, in general, environmental regulation can significantly promote the total factor energy efficiency in China, which is an existing reversed transmission mechanism. There are obvious U-structure nonlinear relations between environmental regulation and total factor energy efficiency. Most of the eastern provinces of China are on the right side of the U-structure's inflection point. Therefore, energy efficiency can be improved by promoting environmental regulation. However, the central and western provinces are primarily on the left side or near the U-structure's inflection point. In these regions, environmental regulation does not implement the reversed transmission mechanism. The differences between developed provinces and undeveloped ones contribute to realizing the plight in the development stages of emerging market countries.Keywords

This article evaluates the total factor energy efficiency, energy conservation potential and emission reduction potential of the typical enterprises in the main iron and steel-producing countries such as China, India, Japan and Korea by applying the SBM-desirable DEA model and the SBM-undesirable DEA model. The findings are beneficial for understanding the development status of the main Asian iron and steel-producing countries. The empirical results indicate that the Chinese iron and steel enterprises in the sample made great progress in terms of the total factor energy efficiency. Korea's POSCO and Japan's JFE Group and Nippon Steel enterprise performed the best in terms of energy efficiency, energy conservation and emission reduction. The total factor energy efficiency value of India's Tata Steel is comparatively well. It has completed Jamshedpur Works' brownfield expansion project, which help it add eco-efficient products to its portfolio while using fewer natural resources, less energy and less water per tonne of steel produced.Keywords
