Problem of rice production and their solutions at farming circumstance were studied with the involvement of farmers. In this regard, front line demonstrations on rice were conducted at different locations in Navsari district. These demonstrations focused on increased productivity and replacement of old variety with promising high yielding new variety NAUR-1 and get the feedback from farmers on the performance of rice variety. Study, revealed that over the years, NAUR-1 variety was superior over local check. The net returns (Rs. 42433/ha) and B:C ratio (1:2.42), extension gap (1.15 t/ha) and technology index (78.33 %) were also highest in NAUR-1 as compared to local variety. Keywords

The front line demonstration on SRI technology of paddy cultivation was conducted for two year (2012-13 and 2013-14) on farmers field in two talukas of Navsari district in Kharif season. It was observed that average yield performance of SRI technology of 10 and 36 demonstrations in area of 2.5 and 8.6 hectares of 8064 and 8168 kg/ha during the year 2012-13 and 2013-14, respectively. The percentage increase in demonstration yield over local cultivation practices was 58.6 and 70.6 per cent during the year 2012-13 and 2013-14, respectively. The farmers have incurred average higher gross return of Rs. 101476/ha and benefit cost ration of 3.06 through these demonstrations over local paddy cultivation practices, which was recorded Rs.. 61607/ha and 2.21, respectively. The average additional gain of Rs. 39869/ha was obtained by farmers through these demonstration. Results of the demonstration had shown that the SRI technology of paddy cultivation obtained higher productivity of paddy. Keywords

Knowledge of farmers plays an important role in adoption of scientific package of practices. Study was conducted out in Navsari district of Gujarat to study the knowledge level of sapota growers about scientific package of practice. Total 200 respondents were selected. Study on overall knowledge of scientific package, knowledge regarding selected scientific package, overall adoption of scientific package and adoption of critical operation for sapota production technology were carried out. The study indicated that majority (51.00 %) of the sapota growers had medium level of knowledge. There were only 14 per cent of the sapota growers who had high level of knowledge about scientific package of practices of sapota. Keywords

Knowledge of farmers plays an important role in adoption of scientific package of practices. The present study was conducted in Navsari district of South Gujarat during year 2011 to 2013 to study the overall knowledge levels and adoption pattern of rice production technology. Total 200 respondents were selected. The results of overall knowledge of scientific cultivation practices of paddy indicated that farmers having low, medium and high level before contact with KVK was 73 per cent, 20 per cent and 7 per cent, respectively but it was altered up to 19 per cent, 67 per cent and 14 per cent, respectively after contact with the KVK. The study indicated that the about 67.00 per cent of the rice growers had medium level of knowledge, whereas, only 7 per cent of the rice growers had high level of knowledge about scientific cultivation practice of rice. The per cent increase yield of 25.9, 23.03 and 3.0 per cent during the year 2011-12, 32.22, 19.36 and 13.3 per cent during the year 2012-13 and 30.9, 22.1 and 14.5 per cent during the year 2013-14 were found under the paddy variety NAUR-1, GNR-3 and GNR-2 over control (farmer's variety), respectively. Average extension gap was 663, 862 and 831 kg/ha during the year 2011-12, 2012-13 and 2013-14, respectively. The average technology gap ranged between 810 kg/ ha to 1268 kg/ha during all the three years. Keywords

Front line demonstration (FLD) is one of the most powerful tools for transfer of technology. In order to increase the productivity of brinjal (Solanum melongena L.) by adopting improved technologies, several demonstrations with scientific package of practices were conducted by Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Navsari. Since five years about 97 FLD's on INM brinjal were under taken. A study on impact of farmer's knowledge, adoption and knowledge regarding scientific innovations was conducted. The impact assessment was based on the comparison of before contact and after contact of KVK with reference to increase in knowledge level of farmer's regarding scientific packages of practices, extent of adoption of INM technology. It was found that the overall knowledge of INM demonstrations indicated that low, medium and high level of knowledge before contact with the KVK was 49, 38 and 13 per cent, respectively. It was altered upto 08, 50 and 42 per cent, respectively after contact with the KVK. In case of knowledge regarding selected scientific innovations for demonstrations high knowledge regarding selected scientific innovations were found except IPM (17 %). It can be suggested that FLDs in the south Gujarat region found to be an important constraints and were ranked in first position which needs to be solved for betterment of the tribes in this region. Keywords

The study was conducted in tribal dominated Navsari district. A total number of 160 tribal farmers from 16 villages were selected purposively and from each village 10 respondents were selected. The study focused on the economics of contract farming of sweet corn in South Gujarat and its impact on income, employment and access to technology and credit by contact farmers. The study revealed that a clear majority of the respondents (52 %) had medium level of knowledge. Their adoption level was predominately medium level (51 %). After KVK intervention overall income of respondents has been increased to 41 per cent. Keywords
