Livestock are an integral part of agriculture in India and are likely to be the instruments of future growth and development of the agricultural sector. They generate employment, provide draught power, manure and earn foreign exchange through exports. Additionally, livestock make substantial contributions to environmental conservation and provide domestic fuel to save on the use of petro-products. Although the per capita consumption of foods of animal origin is low in India, demand has been rising due to the growing human population, sustained growth in per capita incomes and increasing urbanization. Dairying is an integral part of the Indian economy providing subsistence to small and marginal farmers and landless laborers. Most of the rural farmers, who keep dairy animals, do not follow modern dairy management practices. This study was conducted on knowledge and adoption level of improved animal husbandry practices. Result revealed that majority of dairy farmers (53.00 %) had medium knowledge level, whereas 22.00 per cent and 25.00 per cent dairy farmers were having low and high knowledge level about improved animal husbandry practices, respectively. Majority of the members (51 %) were found to be medium adopters, while 27 per cent members were low adopters and 22 per cent of the members were high adopters.Keywords

Farmers had average knowledge about improved practices of green gram cultivation in the Chhotaudaipur district of Gujarat. Farmers possessed comparatively more knowledge about high yielding varieties and time of sowing. Minimum knowledge was possessed in plant protection measures and fertilizer application in greengram cultivation and majority of greengram growers were in medium adoption group followed by low and high adoption group. Greengram growers adopted high yielding variety, seed rate and spacing and time of sowing. Minimum adoption was found in fertilizer application and plant protection measures of improved greengram production technology. The majority of farmers belonged to the middle age group i.e., between 30-54 years. It was further found that 63.0 farmers belonged to the up to secondary category of educational level. The majority of farmers were having more than 2.00 ha land followed by small farmers and marginal farmers in the study sample. It was also found that 88.00 per cent farmers belonged to have more Rs. 24000 income per annu). The 30.00 per cent of farmers were no member of any organization followed by member of one organization (45%) and office bearer of organization (25%).Keywords

Mungbean can be eaten solely, or combined with rice to make khichari, or combined with vegetables and greens to make hearty soups or grind into flour to be used to make crepes or added to breads. Turmeric, cumin, dried ginger and coriander are some spices that work very well with mungbean. Study revealed that majority of respondents (60.00 %) perceived constraints moderately, 23.00 per cent perceived constraints upto high extent whereas, remaining 17.00 per cent perceived constraints upto low extent regarding following improved package of practices of moongbean cultivation. It is recommended that intensive efforts be made to conduct more number of FLDs on moongbean production technology so as to bring more farmers under FLDs umbrella. Thus the difference as depicted in the study results with regards to knowledge and adoption. In view of the findings, it is suggested that subject matter specialist of K.V.K., should visit the field more frequently and assure that the adoption of all the practices (as a package) at the farmer's field.Keywords
