Abstract
Migration, within the country, particularly of males is mainly motivated by the desire to improve economic conditions and can be considered a sensitive index of economic opportunities. Analysis of both, inter-state and intra-state flows is significant from this point of view. It is more so in a VaSt country like India, where disparities in respect of economic development exist not only between states but even within the states and there is lack of decentralisation of economic opportunities.
