A field experiment consisting of 24 treatment combinations of four levels of sulphur (0, 20, 40, 60 kg/ha) and three levels of Zinc (0, 2.5 and 5.0kg Zn/ha) and two level of FYM (0 and10 t FYM/ha) was conducted with two consecutive years from 2007-08 and 2008-09 with three replications under Factorial Randomized Block Design at Bhachau-Kachchh to study the effect of S and Zn with and without FYM on yield and yield attributes of mustard. Application of 60kg S/ha and 5.0kg Zn/ha along with 10t FYM/ha significantly increased the yield attributes and yield of mustard as compared to control but it was at par with the application of 40kg S/ ha and 5.0kg Zn/ha along with 10t FYM/ha and maximum economic benefits of gross realization, net realization along with highest BCR of 4.84:1.Keywords

A field experiment was conducted on loamy sand soil of the S.D. Agricultural University, Sardar Krushinagar to study the effect of integrated nitrogen management on growth and yield of Amaranthus. Ten treatments comprised of nitrogen management practices were tested in Randomized Block Design with four replications. The results revealed that the application of 75 % RDN through urea + 25 % RDN in form of gliricidia compost along with Azotobecter inoculation treatment (T10) recorded highest plant height, length of spike, No. of spikelet per spike, length of spikelet and test weight. The highest grain and stover yield was also noted with the application of 75 % RDN through urea + 25 % RDN in form of gliricidia compost along with Azotobecter. Moreover, the application of Azotobacter also improved the grain and stover yield as compared to non-application of Azotobacter. Keywords

A field experiment study was conducted on loamy sand soil of the S.D. Agricultural University, Sardar Krushinagar indicated that fertilizing the crop with 75 % RDN (urea) + 25% (gliricidia) with Azotobacter gave highest crude protein. The N, P, K S, Fe and Zn content were higher in treatment where 50 or 25 % recommended dose of nitrogen was applied through organic sources (FYM, gliricidia compost). The maximum removal of N, P and Fe by both grain and stover and K by grain were noted by application of 75 % RDN (urea) + 25% gliricidia compost with Azotobacter. While, highest uptake of K by stover, S by grain and stover were noted 50-50 % RDN applied through urea and gliricidia compost and 75 % RDN through urea + 25 % RDN through FYM + Azotobacter (T8), treatments, respectively. While, the maximum uptake of Zn by both grain and stover were recorded by 75 % RDN through urea + 25 % RDN through gliricidia compost (T6).Keywords
