A pregnant woman who is stressed during her pregnancy, her child is likely to have emotional, cognitive, behavioural problems in the future. The aim of this review was to have an understanding of stress and its impact on pregnant women and their unborn children. Google Scholar and PubMed were utilized for selecting 20 papers written in the English language. Through this narrative review, it was found that maternal stress was related to a number of factors and it affects the emotional, psycho-behavioural aspects of the child. Hence, awareness on part of the health care providers is essential.Keywords
