Abstract

The effectiveness of RPT on bio-psycho-social parameters among 24 alcohol dependents were done in selected de-addiction centre at Thanjavur district. 12 samples were in experiment and 12 were in control group samples were selected by using cluster sampling Technique. The research design used for this study was True experimental pre test - post test control group design. Data were collected through interview method by using 3 standardized Questionnaires, 1 semi-structured questionnaire and laboratory test method was used to assess the bio-psycho-social parameters. The obtained paired 'T' test score had significant effect on 'P' Value <0.05 in bio logical parameters (Audit) - psycho-social parameters and there was no significant effect in SGOT & SGPT levels in experimental group and bio-psycho-social parameters of Control groups. It indicates the given RPT was effective, in experimental groups of IAD and DAD there was a highly positive significant correlation and there was a moderate positive significant correlation in control group. The obtained unpaired 't' test score for comparison between experimental and control groups showed a significant difference in bio(Audit) Psycho-Social parameters of the experimental group alone and no difference in control groups of IAD and DAD. The comparison between IAD and DAD group had significant difference in Bio(Audit) psycho social parameters of the experimental groups. Hence the study result revealed that RPT was effective for the experimental groups. And RPT with Care givers support was more effective in DAD experimental group when compared with IAD experimental and Control groups. So RPT with care givers support was more effective on bio-psycho-social parameters of alcohol dependents.

Abstract

Diabetes is one of the 3rd leading Non Communicable as well as chronic disease in the world; it has major impact on quality of life. To manage and control diabetes, assessment of quality of life (QOL) acts as an important tool.

Aims and Objectives: The study aims

1. to assess the quality of life and glycemic level among diabetic patients.

2. to assess the risk factors of diabetic patients.

3. to associate the QOL and glycemic level with selected demographic variables.

Materials and Methods : A Cross sectional study was conducted for a period of 5 months among 80 type 2 diabetes mellitus patients (40 males and 40 females) visiting Global Hospital and Research Center and its units in Sirohi district, Rajasthan. Demographic data was collected using structured proforma, glycemic level (Fasting, Post Prandial blood glucose and HbA1C) through venous blood sample and QOL using standard WHO QOL BREF questionnaires. Statistical analysis like Mean, standard deviation, correlation, chi tests and ANOVA was analysed using SPSS 16.

Results: The mean fasting blood sugar, post prandial blood sugar and HbA1C are higher among females than male diabetic patients. The quality of life among females is less compared to male patients. Hence, the improvement in the quality of life among diabetic patient can be achieved by controlling blood glucose levels.

Conclusion: Diabetes patients need proper treatment regimen and healthy life style intervention to improve their quality of life.

Abstract

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a hormonal imbalance disorder, occurring commonly in women of reproductive age, which leads to infertility. Around 12-18% of women of reproductive age are affected by PCOS and up to 21% of women are at high risk. Although, the origin of PCOS is unknown and can’t be pinpointed; its onset is indisputably associated with several factors including genetics, lifestyles, hormonal, etc. Changes during the adolescent period have important indications to understand the health risks associated with this syndrome. Women with PCOS usually suffer from chronic anovulation and hyper-androgenism, which are the main noticeable indicators associated with PCOS and it results in pregnancy problems. Therefore, PCOS poses a great deal to women in their reproductive stage, which demands deep understanding and proper strategies that can be implemented to women with PCOS, to nurse the body back to fertility. PCOS being a syndrome comprising many symptoms, its treatment and management is mainly based on dealing the associated symptoms individually. In this review article, important causing factors, diagnostic criteria, and pathophysiology of PCOS along with important findings from recent studies are being discussed and highlighted.
