Abstract

An attempt has been made through this study to know about the consumer preference for the creative innovative curtains in order to incorporating the latest information regarding innovative curtains by using computer technology. Twenty five innovative designed curtains were developed by incorporating various designing techniques /features using Corel Draw. Among the total of twenty five innovative designed curtains, the five designs were preferred by the experts. These designs were developed with the combinations of different designing techniques/features i.e. embroidery, patch work, shirring, Toran, cowl effect etc.

Abstract

The present investigation was aimed to study the wardrobe planning among adolescent girls of Hisar and Gurgaon city. The study revealed that most of the girls preferred cotton clothes with mean score (2.70 and 2.80) from Hisar and Gurgaon, respectively. Purchasing of clothes is done mostly from fixed price shop and shopping malls with mean score of 2.18 and 2.12 from Hisar and Gurgaon, respectively. Majority of the respondents purchase clothes whenever there was a 'marriage in the family' and 'whenever required' with mean score of 2.68 and 2.77 from Hisar and Gurgaon, respectively. The important factors considered during clothing selection were colour combination with mean score 2.68 and 2.70 from Hisar and Gurgaon, respectively.

Abstract

The present study was conducted in Hisar and Gurgaon city to assess the consumer’s preferences about theme based designing for home furnishings. Fifty consumers from each city (Hisar and Gurgaon) were selected purposively, which constituted a total sample of hundred consumers. The consumers were the ultimate users of home furnishings. The data revealed that majority of the respondents (81.00%) were not awared or had no idea about theme based home furnishings but they decorate the area of home according with the matching interiors (63.00%). Consumers ( 2.59 X_w ) preferred the area for theme based home furnishings were drawing cum lounge area followed by lounge area and drawing room because family members generally relax, socialize in this area and use it for leisure and informal entertainment. Ten theme based design line were created for home furnishings by using different designing software’s in 2D and 3D rendering in virtual design drawing cum lounge area.

Abstract

Home furnishings are one of the most demanding and emerging fields, full of scope of innovation and creativity. Consumer choices in home decoration keeps on changing from time to time, due to changing fashion trends as well as need for comfortable home environment. So there is a great demand for theme based designing. An attempt was made through this study. Ten theme based design line were created for home furnishings by using different designing software’s in 2D and 3D rendering in virtual design drawing cum lounge area. Themes include Black and white (accented neutral colour scheme), contemporary with polka dots, Floral, Natural botanical, Ocean, Silhouette, Sunrise, Traditional, Tribal and Zodiac.

Abstract

The modern day woman faces various psychosocial barriers to breastfeeding, in addition to the emotional and physical to assess clothing requirements of lactating mothers. The identified clothing requirements were incorporated in garment challenges. There is great potential for the development and improvement of apparel for breastfeeding mothers. The aim of this study was to design and develop functional clothing for a lactating woman. A questionnaire was developed for personal interview designs. After designing preference was taken by lactating mothers and top six preferred designs were constructed and given to the lactating women for wear trial. The related data highlights that design 1 with jacket was ranked 1^st on overall basis (4.68) followed by design 3 having side pleat (Rank II, 4.59), design 2 with horizontal opening (Rank III, 4.47) and design 6 with yoke (Rank IV, 4.32). Design 6 with princess line and 4 with centre long front opening having average mean score 4.20 and 4.13, respectively were assessed next in their rank orders. It can be concluded from the data that subject was satisfied with the functional designs. This type of designing and construction of functional clothing can boost up the confidence of lactating mothers to breastfeed in the public places and thus ultimately breaking psychosocial barriers to breastfeeding and also enhance psychological comfort by lifting their self esteem.

Abstract

Trimmings are an ornamental addition used on clothing and home furnishing such as facing, piping, braids, cords, laces, tassels patches, borders etc. Market is flooded with trimmings of numerous sizes, shapes, styles and colours. The study was conducted to know the latest trends of trimmings. Ten shopkeepers purposively selected ten shops and thirty consumers visiting these shops were selected on the basis of responsively to collect information regarding existing trends of trimmings. The information regarding availability of trimmings and sale of trimmings was collected through shopkeepers. Thirty consumers visiting these trimming shops were selected as respondents to know their usage pattern of trimmings for apparels. The information was collected using self-structured interview schedule and by observations.Majority of respondents preferred surface embellishments for female wears followed by children and male wears. The ornamentation materials (beads, sequins, rhinestone etc.) and readymade decorative trimmings were the most preferred types of surface embellishments used for female apparels. Majority of consumers preferred piping and facing as functional trimmings and laces and borders as decorative trimmings for formal, casual and night female wears. Most of consumers preferred laces, borders and tassels, as decorative trimmings for female formal wears.
