Abstract

A laboratory experiment was conducted to determine the bio-efficacy of Beauveria bassiana (Balsamo) Vuillemin alone and in combination with chemical insecticides against Helicoverpa armigera (Hubner) on pigeonpea at bio-control laboratory, Department of Entomology, College of Agriculture, Junagadh Agricultural University, Junagadh during Kharif season of 2011. The results revealed that polytrin-C 0.044 per cent and chlorpyriphos 0.05 per cent alone recorded the highest mortality, whereas B. Bassiana @1.25 kg/ha combined with polytrin-C 0.044 per cent and B. Bassiana @1.25 kg/ha combined with chlorpyriphos 0.05 per cent were the next best treatments and can be recommended for ecofriendly management of H. armigera in pigeonpea ecosystem.

Abstract

Out of three bio-pesticides, spinosad was proved an excellent ovipositional deterrent bio-pesticide as it gave 79.5 per cent mortality of C. serratus adults after three days of seed treatment when used @ 2.0 mg (a.i.)/50 g seeds. Beauveria bassiana and Verticillium lecanii were found equal in its efficacy and less effective as compared to spinosad.

Abstract

A laboratory trial was conducted to know the bio-efficacy of Verticillium lecanii and Beauveria bassiana alone and in combination with reduced dose of two insecticides against third nymphal stage of Lipaphis erysimi (Kalt.) at Junagadh Agricultural University, Junagadh during 2005-06. The results showed that the insecticides, imidacloprid 0.005 per cent and acephate 0.05 per cent alone were found most effective, while, application of V. lecanii at half concentration with either imidacloprid or acephate at half dose, i.e. 0.0025 or 0.025 per cent, respectively, was found as effective as synthetic insecticides alone against L. erysimi.

Abstract

A field experiments was conducted to estimate the avoidable losses caused by Lipaphis erysimi in mustard sprayed with fungal biopestcides alone and in combination with synthetic insecticides. The percentage of avoidable yield losses in mustard seed were found varying from 11 to 68%. Acephate 0.05% recorded lowest yield loss of 11% followed by Verticillium lecanii @ 1.0 kg/ha+imidacloprid 0.0025 per cent (14%) and V. lecanii @ 1.0 kg/ha+acephate 0.025 per cent (20%). Higher avoidable loss (38 to 55%) observed in the treatment of V. lecanii @ 2.0 kg/ha, Beauveria bassiana @ 2.5 kg/ha and azadirachtin 0.000375%.
