Six insecticides viz; thiamethoxam, imidacloprid, acetamiprid, profenofos 40 per cent+cypermethrin 4 per cent, endosulfan @ 0.07 per cent and carbofuran with various concentrations were evaluated against shoot fly of Sorghum (Sorghum bicolor L Monech) The shoot fly oviposition, plants with eggs and dead hearts were ranged from 0.95 to 2.88 eggs plant-1, 32.57 to 59.12% and 6.34 to 29.14%, respectively in various treatments as against to 1.78 eggs plant-1, 35.76% and 48.96%, respectively in untreated control. Maximum grain and fodder yields were obtained from imidacloprid @ 1.2 per cent ST treated plots i.e. 27.59 and 91.67 q ha-1, respectively and closely followed by thiamethoxam @ 0.75 per cent ST i.e. 27.50 and 81.92 q ha-1, respectively. Keywords

Experiment was carried out with six genotypes of greengram (Vigna radiata) viz., 2KM 13 , 2KM 17, 2KM 19, 2KM 33, 2KM 32 and Malviya jyoti at college of agriculture IGAU, Raipur (C.G.) during kharif season 2002, in randomized block design (RBD) with four replications to study the dry matter accumulation and its partitioning with respect to seed yield and harvest index. Study revealed that dry matter accumulation in different plant components increased upto maturity. Among all the genotypes 2KM 33 showed higher dry matter accumulation per plant and also higher value of seed yield and harvest index. Keywords

Bioassay tests in the laboratory were conducted to study the susceptibility of adult T. chilonis to different concentrations of endosulfan. The newly emerged F1 progeny were subjected to increased concentration of endosulfan. It was found that after the treatment of adult T. chilonis with endosulfan for 15 generations, the LC50 values of endosulfan increased by 13.27% from 0.0437% of base colony (susceptible) to 0.0495% of selected F15 colony (tolerant). To study the mode of inheritance, the programme of back crossing was undertaken. LC50 values of back cross progeny obtained was 0.0476% which was intermediate between susceptible (S) colony (LC50 0.0437%) and F15 selected (R) colony (LC50 0.0495%) indicating that the gene for endosulfan tolerance is completely dominant. Keywords
