The paper presents a new criteria evolved by experience to identify a list of core and selected Indian periodicals in Horticulture. A study of citations from the doctoral and master's degree dissertations in the field of Horticulture from 1980 to 1989 as the main source of data is computed for this study. A list of 235 primary periodicals and a ranking list has been prepared out of this study. The criteria used for selecting core journals in most of the studies are by ranking only, and has certain limitations. In this study 35% of the citations are on the subject journals (i.e., 16% of the total). Since this limits to a very small percentage, identification of other criteria was found necessary such as identifying subject coverage in peripheral subjects like in Agricultural Sciences, Science and so on. This process generated 95% of the citations from 85% of the journals. Such additional criteria are identified in the study and rank journals for the selection of core items. Keywords

A bibliometric study of Bibliometrics literature is reported, based on the entries noticed in LISA from the year 1964 to 1990. Solo research predominates, with 65% of the total with single authors and the proportion with multi-authored is 2.2:1. Degree of collaboration ranged from 0.20 to 0.35. Bibliometrics literature is doubling every ten years. English (76.28%), Journals (91.41%) and articles on Library Science Studies (39.97%) dominate language, format and subject respectively. The most important journals identified were Scientometrics, Journal of American Society of Information Science and Nauchno Technicheskaya Informatsiya Seriya. Keywords

Studies the authorship pattern and the extent of research collaboration in the field of bibliometrics literature, based on the data collected from LISA (1964-1990). The study revealed that solo research is more favourable than the collaborative research. The degree of collaboration ranged between 0.20 to 0.35 during the period of study, with an overall average of 0.31.Keywords

This study attempts to investigate the users perspective about e-books and e-readers, reasons and purpose of using e-books, preferred format for reading and downloading e-books, awareness about e-readers, the most used e-book reader by the researchers, the importance of e-books in research, the key constraints faced by the doctoral researchers of Indian Institute of Science Education and Research. It is found from the study that almost all the users are well aware of e-books, e-readers and e-book reading technologies as the Institutional Library is successful in providing most of the resources in electronic format. Keywords
