A novel series pyrazoline derivatives have been developed as chemotherapeutic agents and have found wide clinical applications such as antibacterial, anticancer, antifungal and antitubercular agents. Chalcones are known to exhibit interesting pharmacological activities like anti-inflammatory, antileishmanial, antibacterial, antitumor, antimalarial and antitubercular activity. A series of pyrazoline derivatives [Substituted 1,5-diphenyl-3-(m-tolyl)-4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrazole] were prepared from chalcones by the reported method, characterized by IR, 1H NMR and mass spectra. The synthesized compounds were evaluated for antitubercular and cytotoxic activity studies. Most of the compounds have exhibited promising antitubercular and cytotoxic activities. Keywords

A series of novel 4-(4-nitrophenyl)-6-phenyl substituted pyrimidine-2-thiol (PM1-PM6) have been synthesized by refluxing 1-(4-nitrophenyl)-3-phenyl substituted prop-2-en-1-one in presence of thiourea and glacial acetic acid. 1-(4-nitrophenyl)-3-phenyl substituted prop-2-en-1-one were prepared by condensing 4-nitroacetophenone with substituted benzaldehydes in presence of 20% NaOH as base. The structures of newly synthesized compounds were characterized by IR, 1H NMR and mass spectroscopic studies. Newly synthesized compounds were screened for their anti-inflammatory and cytotoxic studies. Few of the compounds exhibited excellent anti-inflammatory compared to the standard drug diclofenac sodium. Some compounds have shown moderate cytotoxic activities. Keywords

The novel series of substituted flavanones were synthesized by reacting various 2-hydroxy chalcones. The intermediate 2-hydroxy chalcones were synthesized by Claisen-Schmidt condensation reaction. Flavanones were prepared by refluxing 2-hydroxychalcones in ethanol in presence of conc. H2SO4. All the synthesized compounds (RF1-RF9) were assigned on the basis of IR, 1H-NMR and MASS spectral data. These synthesized compounds were evaluated for their antioxidant activity by two different methods, DPPH and nitric oxide method. The compounds RF1, RF2, RF6, and RF7, RF8 showed very good activity when compared to the standard. Keywords
