The profitability is the most important indicator of financial performance. The level of efficiency, productivity, and cost effectiveness is reflected through the bank's profit which can be considered as a composite index of the bank's performance in its various areas of operation. Therefore, banks particularly RRBs at the present juncture have to ensure equilibrium between community banking and profitability and earned reasonable return to defend their survival. Hence, the present study is undertaken to examine the profitability performance of MRB in the context of their performance RRB as a whole. For the purpose of the study, we have considered all the branches ie, 58 branches particularly for the analysis of profitability performance of MRB. The paper has (i) investigated the growth of profits of MRB in the context of RRBs as a whole, (ii) established the relationship between volume of business and profitability of MRB, (iii) assessed the impact of total earnings on the profitability of MRB, (iv) compared the profitability performance of banks with financial ratios in the context of RRBs as a whole, and (v) identified the determinants of profitability of MRB.Keywords
