Optimization of design parameters of Stewart Platform (SP) for Active Vibration Isolation (AVI) using Genetic Algorithm (GA) trained neural network was carried out and effect of design parameter considered for optimization are studied. Modelling of Stewart platform for six Degree Of Freedom (DOF) AVI was carried out using MATLAB/SIMULINK. The need for the study of six DOF vibration control is felt seriously in modern day applications such as high resolution measurement, micro manufacturing, etc. Stewart platform has several features which make them particularly attractive for six DOF AVI. The main feature of Stewart platform for AVI is that it can be directly placed in the path of isolation. The SIMULINK model developed is optimized using GA trained neural network and the effect of design parameters considered for optimization are studied. The effects of design parameter are analyzed for isolation of foundation from machinery vibration and sensitive equipment from vibrating floor. The optimal parameters of SP offer a better isolation performance while the control parameters are unaltered.
