In this paper, blackhole attack in mobile adhoc networks have been investigated. Blackhole attack is the attack in which all traffic is redirected to a specific node, which may not forward any traffic to all other nodes. The test-bed is created and system is developed using AODV as a base routing protocol on the network simulator. Various network performance parameters i.e. throughput, packet delivery ratio, collisions etc. are analyzed before and after attack. There are two existing mechanisms: packet based prevention, request based prevention and one hybrid mechanism for preventing blackhole attack is proposed. On implementation of blackhole attack the performance of the network reduces, but after implementation of detection and prevention mechanisms the performance of MANETs improves significantly and results shows that proposed hybrid technique is better than existing techniques.Keywords

Due to the wide range of applications, Wireless Sensor Network(WSN) have recently attracted a lot of interest in the research community.WSN consist of large number of low-power sensor nodes, with limited processing, communication and storage resources. Due to limited resources of WSNs, it is challenging to incorporate basic security functions, such as authentication, privacy, confidentiality, availability and integrity etc. In order to protect the sensitive data and the sensor reading, secret keys should be used to encrypt the exchanged messages between communicating nodes. Because of high energy consumption and increased code storage requirement is needed by asymmetric cryptography such as RSA or ECC. Key management is one of the oldest areas in WSN security solution. This paper is devoted to the research on security efficiency for wireless sensor networks. The proposed scheme of IPC(Inter Process Communication) key management is based on the generation and distribution of the individual key, pair-wise key and the cluster head broadcast key. IPC have simulated and shows the performance for energy consumption with increasing number of neighbors, and time taken in individual key establishment with the number of nodes in the network. The security analysis shows that the scheme within this paper meets the unique security needs of the sensor networks.Keywords

Software Testing is the process of exercising the software product in predefined ways to check if the behavior is the same as expected behavior. Regression testing is the process of validating any changes that may have been induced in a software system during software maintenance. Test Suite Prioritization in Regression testing basically aims to re-schedule those test cases which should be re-executed during regression testing based on some criteria. The main objective of test case prioritization is to maximize early fault detection. Regression Testing is an expensive, but still an important process. Because the size of a test suite is extremely large, therefore exhaustive re-testing of the system is impossible. Unfortunately, system may have shortage of resources to re–execute entire set of test cases during regression testing.So, selective re-testing of the system based on some criteria is the cost-benefical solution. This paper describes various test case prioritization techniques developed so far systematically.

Intrusion detection is the method in which the events happening in a computer system or network are monitored and analyzed for signs of possible incidents, which may be threats of violation of information security policies or standard security practices. Intrusion prevention system makes an attempt to stop detected possible incidents which are threat to security. Intrusion detection and prevention system (IDPS) primarily focuses on detection and prevention of possible incidents which are threat to information security. In this paper a defence against packet dropping attack on Distributed Information System is designed in the form of Intrusion Detection System. Two techniques are implemented for prevention against selfish node intrusion: Enabling Broadcasting (EB) and Selective Multicast Addressing (SMA). EB is a cost-effective intrusion detection and prevention solution to the packet dropping using broadcasting method. The SMA is a solution that limits the number of active addresses flowing i.e. selective multicasting or selective multicast addressing, for an access link in order to find out multiple path for destination node. Performance is evaluated for different parameters and it is found that the proposed system of intrusion detection gives much better performance.Keywords

WiMax is an acronym meaning Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMax). WiMax based on Wireless Metropolitan Area Networking (WMAN) standards developed by the IEEE 802.16 group. The IEEE 802.16 standard was developed to deliver Non-Line-of-Sight (NLoS) connectivity between a subscriber station and base station with typical cell radius of three to ten kilometres. A frequently IP handover plays very important role to increase the performance of network in WiMax. HMIPv6 (Hierarchical Mobile IPv6) basically reduces the overhead of signalling overhead as well as latency of handoff which is associated with the MIPv6. ALRO(Adaptive Local Route Optimization) technique that implements within the single MAP(Mobility Anchor Point) environment optimizes the route at the SMR predefined threshold value. An enhanced version of ALRO technique implemented with Multiple MAP domain is proposed in this paper. It is found that ALRO scheme implemented in HMIPv6 protocol with the multiple MAP environment improves the network performance as compared to basic ALRO scheme.Keywords

Objectives: Experimental evaluation of “m-ACO” (Modified Ant Colony Optimization) technique for test case prioritization has been performed on two well known software testing problems namely “Triangle Classification Problem” and “Quadratic Equation Problem”. Apart from these two problems, m-ACO has been experimentally evaluated using open source software JFreeChart. Methods: m-ACO finds the optimized solution to test suite prioritization by modifying the phenomenon used by natural ants to reach to its food source and select the food. This paper attempts to experimentally and comparatively evaluate the proposed m-ACO technique for test case prioritization against some contemporary meta-heuristic techniques using two well known software testing problems and open source problem. Performance evaluation has been measured using two metrics namely APFD (Average Percentage of Faults Detected) and PTR (Percentage of Test Suite Required for Complete Fault Coverage). Findings: The proposed technique m-ACO proves its efficiency on both the parameters. m-ACO achieves higher fault detection rate with minimized test suite as comparative to other meta-heuristic techniques for test case prioritization. Improvements: The proposed technique m-ACO basically works by modifying the food source searching and selection pattern of the real ants. Real ants grab every type food source it comes across; while modified ants evaluate the food fitness and uniqueness before selection. This phenomenon enhances the quality and diversity of deposited food source.

Objectives: The novel test case prioritization technique “m-ACO” (“Modified Ant Colony Optimization”) for regression testing has been comparatively evaluated. Methods: “m-ACO” prioritize the test cases by altering the food source selection criteria of natural ants to enhance fault diversity. The code for the proposed technique for prioritizing test case “m-ACO” has been implemented in Perl language. This paper makes a comparative evaluation of proposed “m-ACO” technique for prioritization of test cases with GA (“Genetic Algorithm”), BCO (“Bee Colony Optimization”) Algorithms and ACO (“Ant Colony Optimization”) Algorithms using three case studies. Two metrics namely APFD (“Average Percentage of Faults Detected”) and PTR (“Percentage of Test Suite Required for Complete Fault Coverage”) have been used to measure the effectiveness of the proposed “m-ACO” technique. Findings: The proposed technique “m-ACO” produced optimal or near optimal solutions. The proposed “m-ACO” technique proves its efficiency in comparison to GA, BCO and ACO methods individually. Improvements: The proposed technique improves the ACO method by altering food source selection criteria of natural ants. The future work in this direction will comparatively evaluate the proposed “m-ACO” technique using some well known software testing problems and open source software. The present investigation was carried out at Palampur during rabi 2012 and 2013 to gather information on the nature of gene action by following line × tester mating design involving five lines and three testers. The analysis of variance revealed significant differences among treatments for days to marketable curd maturity from date of transplanting, gross weight per plant, marketable yield per plant, curd size index, curd depth, curd diameter, per cent marketable curds, stalk length, number of leaves per plant, plant height, harvest index, ascorbic acid content and total soluble solids. The magnitude of dominance variance was higher than additive variance for all the traits except curd depth and total soluble solids which indicated the involvement of nonadditive gene action which could be utilized through the development of hybrids in cauliflower. A complete correspondence was noticed between per cent contribution of line × tester interaction (crosses) and non-additive gene action (σ2D), which reaffirm the importance of hybrids in cauliflower.Keywords

Wireless Sensor Networks(WSNs) consists of low power, low-cost smart devices which have limited computing resources. With a widespread growth of the applications of WSN, the security mechanisms are also be a rising big issue. A lot of real-world applications have been already deployed and many of them will be based on wireless sensor networks. These applications include geographical monitoring, medical care, manufacturing, transportation, military operations, environmental monitoring, industrial machine monitoring, and surveillance systems. This paper discusses typical constraints, security goals, threat models and typical attacks on sensor networks and their defensive techniques or countermeasures relevant to the sensor networks, including security methods. The most critical area prone to attack is nearby the base station as the data is more aggregated, that should be kept secure using a number of defensive techniques as stated.Keywords

A MANET is an autonomous collection of mobile users (nodes) that communicate over relatively bandwidth-constrained wireless links. The infrastructure less and the dynamic nature of these networks demands new set of networking strategies to be implemented in order to provide efficient end-to-end communication. MANETs employ the traditional TCP/IP structure to provide end-to-end communication between nodes. However, due to their mobility and the limited resource in wireless networks, each layer in the TCP/IP model require redefinition or modifications to function efficiently in MANETs. Routing in the MANETs is a challenging task and has received a tremendous amount of attention from researches. This has led to development of many different routing protocols for MANETs, which are classified in two basic categories:reactive routing and proactive routing protocols. Studies were carried out on six genotypes (PalamUphar, DPCa Y-2, DPCa Y-3, DPCa Y-4, DPCa Y-5 and DPCa Y-6) of mid-late group of cauliflower at Experimental Farm of the Department of Vegetable Science and Floriculture, CSK Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidyalaya, Palampur during the period from September 2010 to June 2011 to find out the levels of compatibility. The pollination treatments included self-pollination in open flowers at 25% flowering (OP-I), self-pollination in open flowers at 50- 75% flowering (OP-II) and self-pollination in open flowers at more than 75% flowering (OP-III). Majority of the plants in all the genotypes studied were in the compatibility grade 0-10 per cent, whereas, there was little change in the genotypes DPCa Y-2, DPCa Y-3, DPCa Y-4, DPCa Y-5 and DPCa Y-6 for the number of plants in the compatibility grade 0-10 except PalamUphar (OP-III). Hence, those plants falling in 0-10 compatibility grade can be used for the isolation of S-allele homozygotes for the development of selfincompatible lines for hybrid development.Keywords

Morphological characterization of bell pepper (Capsicum annuum L. var. grossum Sendt.) germplasm is a prerequisite in any crop improvement programme. The present study was conducted in 2015 at the Vegetable Experimental Farm of CSK Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidyalaya, Palampur, to evaluate morphological traits of bell pepper genotypes in 43 F5 progenies, one susceptible and two resistant checks. Characterization of genotypes was done for the plant descriptors that included fruit shape, fruit shape at pedicel attachment, blossom end fruit shape, fruit position, plant height and fruit colour. Blocky fruit shape, truncate/ cordate fruit shape at pedicel attachment, sunken blossom end fruit shape, pendent/ erect fruit position and dark green fruit colour at the time of horticultural maturity were the desirable horticultural attributes from consumer's point of view. Bell pepper germplasm contains sufficient genetic variability and can be used for crop improvement. Among the evaluated genotypes, 14 had blocky fruit shape, 12 with lobate fruit shape at pedicel attachment, 25 with sunken blossom end fruit shape, 7 with upright fruit position and 28 genotypes with plant height of 46-65 cm. Green and yellow green coloured fruits were prominent. 27, 9 and 10 progenies were categorized under green group, yellow yellow green group and yellow green green group, respectively. Characterization of bell pepper germplasm will provide valuable information for strengthening breeding programmes because it helps in selection of parents on the basis of morphological characters. P-43, P-24, P-25, P-33, P-34, P-10, P-23 were the progenies with desirable horticultural attributes and can be used for their exploitation in future breeding programme.Keywords

Forty six genotypes of bell pepper were evaluated during the summer rainy season of 2015 at CSKHPKV, Palampur to study the extent of genetic variability, determine the association between different characters, understand the direct and indirect effects of component traits on marketable fruit yield, and identify desirable genotypes. Sufficient genetic variability was observed for all horticultural traits studied; that is, days to 50 per cent flowering, days to first picking, plant height, primary branches per plant, harvest duration, fruit length, fruit width, pericarp thickness, lobes per fruit, average fruit weight, fruit yield per plant, fruits per plant, marketable fruit yield per plant and marketable fruits per plant. On the basis of mean performance, the progenies P-30, P-39 P-33, P-11 and P-28 were the highest yielder. The phenotypic coefficient of variation (PCV) indicated higher values than genotypic coefficient of variation (GCV) for all the traits, indicating close association between phenotype and genotype. High heritability estimates along with high genetic advance were recorded for average fruit weight, fruit yield per plant and marketable fruit yield per plant indicating the role of additive gene action for their inheritance. Harvest duration and fruit width had high heritability estimates along with low genetic advance, indicating non-additive gene activity, and these could be improved through hybridization The maximum direct effect on marketable fruit yield per plant was exhibited by marketable fruits per plant, average fruit weight and fruit width, whereas days to 50 per cent flowering and marketable fruits per plant had negative direct effects. Adequate genetic variability was present within bell pepper germplasm to aflow breeding improvement of marketable yield.Keywords

The extent of genetic diversity plays an important role in varietal improvement programme of a particular crop. An experiment was conducted to study genetic divergence in 25 genotypes of cauliflower and data was recorded for 17 quantitative characters. On the basis of D2 statistics, the genotypes were grouped into three clusters. Based on inter and intra-cluster distances, maximum intra-cluster distance was observed in Cluster I, indicating that the genotypes included in this cluster were genetically diverse. Further, inter-cluster distances revealed maximum values between Clusters I and II, followed by Clusters I and III and, clusters II and III. On the basis of cluster means, Cluster I was observed to be important for earliness and yield characters suggesting the scope of improvement for these traits through the use of genotypes included in this cluster. On the other hand, for morphological and quality characters, Cluster II was observed to be important. Hence, genotypes from diverse clusters with high mean values for different characters present the best choice for further exploitation in cauliflower improvement programme.Keywords

In order to explore the possibility of sources of resistance and relative tolerance of cultivars based upon the damage inflicted, studies were undertaken to evaluate onion and garlic entries/genotypes during February-April, 2016. The screening of the genotypes revealed thrips population to remain low till the end of March which attained peak in the first week of April. Mean thrips population count on onion was maximum on ON-14-01 being at par to ALRO 213, ON14-04 and minimum on genotype OLR 1352 which being at par with ON 15-16 and OLR 1372. Among the garlic genotypes AVT-2/GRL-1351 and AVT-1/GN-14-25 showed maximum thrips population whereas GRL-1349 and AVT-1/GN14-23 sustained minimum population. Foliar damage varied from 4.90 to 25.40 per cent and 0 to 6.6 per cent in onion and garlic, respectively. Correlation of population build-up with environmental factors showed positive correlation with prevailing temperature but negative with rainfall, relative humidity, wind speed and sunshine hours for both the crops but correlation with maximum relative humidity and wind speed was significant for onion crop only.Keywords
