Background: As type 2 diabetes patients are prone to develop fatty liver which can predispose them to cirrhosis, we tried to evaluate the factors that contribute to development of fatty liver in diabetes.
Material and Method: We enrolled 137 type 2 diabetes patients, took anthropometric measurements like BMI, waist circumfrence and waist hip ratio. We subjected them to investigations like ultrasonography (USG) of abdomen, liver function tests and fasting lipid profile. Based on USG abdomen, we classified these patients into FL+(fatty liver ) group and FL-(non fatty liver) group. We analysed various factors that correlate with the development of fatty liver.
Results: Out of 137 type 2 diabetes patients, fatty liver was seen in 48 cases (35%). Cirrhosis was found in 2 cases and hepattocellular carcinoma in 1 case. FL+ group has statically significant high mean total cholesterol, LDL and triglycerides than FL- group. Age, duration of diabetes, gender and HBA1C did not show any statistical correlaton with the development of fatty liver. Among anthropometric measurements, waist circumfrence and BMI in FL+ group is higher than in FLgroup and showed statically significant correlation. Liver function tests like S.Bilirubin, AST, ALT, ALP were much higher in FL+ group than in FL- group but none of them have shown any statistical significance.
Conclusion: Simple measurements like BMI, waist circumfrence and routine laboratory tests like total cholesterol, LDL and triglycerides can be used as prognostic indicators for the development of fatty liver in type 2 diabetes patients.

The present study has been carried out to investigate the genotoxic effect of Cashew nut kernel oil by Drosophila melanogaster (fruit fly) and on Allium cepa ischolar_main (meristamatric tip) methods. Different concentration of Cashew nut kernel oil in ethanol were selected and subjected for sterility test and dominant lethal test by using Drosophilla. For Allium cepa method, each concentration of test oil was applied for different times 12h, 24h and 48h. The obtained result indicates that the cashew nut kernel oil had the ability to cause genotoxic effect at 0.03% v/v concentration in ethanol and also cause different mitotic changes. These various changes appeared in depending on the duration of treatment. The results obtained from both sterility test and dominant lethal test found that Cashew nut kernel oil increases the lethality in flies while the concentration of oil increases. Keywords

Let k be a field and ℓ a prime not equal to the characteristic of k. Assume that k contains a primitive ℓth ischolar_main of unity. Given a central simple algebra D over k(T) with ramification index at most 3, we show that there exist a centrals simple algebra D0 over k and f, g ∈ k(T)* such that D is Brauer equivalent to the tensor product of D0 and the cyclic algebra (f, g)ℓ over k(T). We also give necessary and sufficient conditions for the algebra D0⊗ (f, g)ℓ to be division for some class of polynomials f and g.Keywords

For processing signals and in control application filters are essential, linear optimums discrete time filters such as wiener filter and Kalman filter are on orthogonal principle. For non stationary cases of having a presence of noise, adaptive wiener filter has to be applied using Monte Carlo Simulation 250 samples were used for 50 runs. Coefficients of linear filter are used to estimate the additive white noise. Error is calculated and RMS value of each error is added to the sample for desired signal. FIR wiener filters of order 6, 12, 24 were chosen for adaptive operators .Simulation results were quite encourage in the sense that noise was suppressed to maximum extends. Adaptive methods noisy higher number of samples and more than 100 runs are linear to yield better results. Keywords

Objective: Noise determination is an important part of any signal processing evaluation .It can influence the output and create faults in the system. Wavelet transforms are used for evaluate noise components in signal and imaging processing. Discrete wavelets are more suitable for denoising. Methods/Analysis: In this work it has been proposed to use DWT having their successive procedures such as signal decomposition, threshold of coefficient and signal reconstruction. Discontinuities are also detected by wavelets. Findings: Synthetic signals have been generated using MATLAB simulation. Attempt has been to reduce the noise in various cases using wavelet analysis. Corresponding results of LPF and HPF have been considered. Novelty/Improvement: Further work can be done by extended the procedure to higher number of filtering operations. Keywords

The requirement of an Open Protocol for energy metering was a long awaited and most required standard for bringing in homogeneity among various makes of meters deployed in the fi eld by the Power utilities. The openness of the standard will make the Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) and interoperability into reality. This open protocol based on IEC-62056 (DLMS/COSEM) helps to overcome most of the challenges for data acquisition for the utilities. The Indian Companion Specifi cation (ICS) was evolved by BIS as an Indian Standard IS-15959 which inherits the IEC-62056 series of standards. This paper brings out the advantages of ICS and tests being performed for compliance. Keywords

This paper addresses the critical issues pertaining to the construction of high capacity power transmission corridors through the reduced Right of Way (ROW). Upon analyzing the techno-commercial aspects of various tower configurations with conventional or upgraded conductors and Insulators, a combination of 400kV/220kV Multi-circuit Multi-voltage Tower configuration with newly proposed ACSS conductor and polymeric insulators in V string arrangement are found to be more viable for the construction of a 2000MW power corridor which utilizes the existing 35m RoW. The implementation of the above proposal is now reached to final stage in Kerala under Kerala State Electricity Board Ltd. aiming to evacuate power from HVDC Station, Thrissur to Northern Region of Kerala state. Keywords
