An efficient architecture of Down Sampler Filter using Merged Delay Transformed Technique in terms of cost reduction and increase throughput has been proposed. The stability analysis of Merged Delay Transformed filters, finite word length effect on Transformed filters as well as conventional filters and peak error between the output from transformed IIR filters and from conventional filters have been investigated on the basis of commercially available software and mathematical calculations. The Butterworth, Chebyshev-1, Chebyshev-2 and Elliptic filters have been considered in this paper for the sake of comparison. The simulation results show that 84.59%, 73.56% and 50.83%&78.71%, 73.85% and 51.89% reduction in cost can be achieved with different specifications by using the proposed scheme when it is compared with conventional FIR filter, conventional IIR filter and conventional polyphase IIR filter, respectively. It has been elaborated that the stability of transformed IIR Decimation filters will not disturb as the Decimation Factor M increases. It is also shown that the transformed Elliptic filter is more stable and the transformed Chebyshev-2 filter is a marginally stable filter. The simulation results show that the peak error is in the range of 10-10 to 10-17 which increases with an increase in order of the filter. On the basis of simulation results and mathematical calculations, it is shown that the decomposition of higher order system into 1st order and 2nd order systems using parallel implementation architecture with Merged Delay Transform increases the processing rate of the filter and a reduction in the cost of implementation as well as peak error.Keywords

The combination of Grey Wolf Optimization and Pattern Search Technique (hGWO-PS) has been introduced to optimize the parameters of two Degree of Freedom Proportional-Integral-Derivative Controller (2DOF-PID) for controlling the load frequency in Automatic Generation Control (AGC) for interconnected power system. The interconnected two area power system of non-reheat thermal power plants consisting of 2DOF-PID controller in each area has been considered for design and analysis. Firstly, the proposed approach has been implemented in the aforementioned standard test system and thereafter, the robustness of the system consisting 2DOF-PID controller optimized by proposed technique has been estimated using the sensitivity analysis for the same. The robustness of the system consisting of 2DOF-PID controller optimized by proposed scheme is examined by varying the parameters of standard test system, loading conditions during operation, size and location of the disturbances. The performance of the 2DOF-PID controller optimized by proposed approach has also been compared with recently published approaches in the literature. The simulation results show that the proposed hGWO-PS optimized 2DOF-PID controller shows far better performance than recently published approaches in the literature in terms of dynamic response. The simulation results also show that system performances hardly change when the operating load condition and system parameters are changed by ±50% from their nominal values, i.e. the proposed controllers are quite robust for a wide range of the system parameters and operating load conditions from their nominal values.Keywords

Today, the requirement of controllers in the field of engineering and process industries is going to be increased in order to control. Among all controllers, Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) controllers are widely used due to its easy implementation. The practical system is composed by the combination of sub-systems which exhibits the nonlinear behavior and conventional PID controllers are not so successful from stability point of view. In order to control those systems, in this paper, the Fractional Order PID (FOPID) controller has been used effectively instead of conventional PID controllers for those system which show the nonlinear behavior. Further, the control ability of the FOPID controller for the nonlinear environment has also been enhanced using Fuzzy Logic Control (FLC) concept with FOPID. Use of FLC concept with FOPID for nonlinear system has been abbreviated as NFL-FOPID (Nonlinear Fuzzy Logic- Fractional Order PID). Analysis and results verify that the proposed controller improves the efficiency as well as the stability of system.Keywords
