Medicinal herbs are used in indigenous system of medicine for various diseases. Moringa oleifera has a high medicinal value which has been recognized. A study on the protective effect of Moringa oleifera leaf extract in acute arsenite induced toxicity in rats was evaluated. Moringa oleifera leaf extract (200 mg/kg body weight/day) obtained by cold maceration technique, was administrated orally to the albino rats. Its protective effect was determined on sodium arsenite induced changes in the blood cell counts, hemoglobin, cholesterol and sugar. Blood sample was collected by tail vein puncture. Rats given sodium arsenite only produced significant decrease in blood haemoglobin, red blood cell and white blood cell counts and increased the blood cholesterol and sugar levels when compared to control rats. Pretreatment with 200 mg/kg body weight of Moringa oleifera leaf extract markedly increased the blood cell counts and the haemoglobin. It also decreased the cholesterol and sugar values. The extract contains substances that acts as an antioxidant and prevents the damage produced by arsenite on various tissues. Keywords

Objective: The study was undertaken to assess the antiperoxide effect of Hibiscus esculentus fruit on various tissues, blood cell counts and haemoglobin of arsenite exposed albino rats. Materials and methods: H.esculentus fruit extract (200 mg/kg body wt/day) obtained by continuous hot percolation in soxhlet apparatus and was administered orally to albino rats. Its protective effect was determined on sodium arsenite induced lipid peroxidation (LPO), superoxide dismutase (SOD) levels of various tissues, blood cell counts and haemoglobin of rats. Results: A significant reduction in arsenic induced LPO in brain, heart, lungs and liver was observed after the administration of H.esculentus fruit extract. The blood lactate and SOD levels in tissues decreases when the extract was given with arsenite. There was a significant increase in RBC, WBC, neutrophils, lymphocytes, haemoglobin and percentage of body weight in rats administered with H.esculentus. Conclusion: These results indicate that people exposed to higher levels of arsenite can increase their intake of H.esculentus, as the quercetin 3-O-glucoside which is the major antioxidant of H.esculentus has a possible protective role on LPO status of certain tissues and blood cell counts of arsenic exposed rats. Keywords

A comparative study for transforming a slow motion system (SMS) into Fast Motion system (FMS) is presented. Priority inversion problem occurs when multiple tasks are running in parallel and request the access of the resource at the same time thereby making the system response slow. In this study an existing SMS running on LPC 1768 board is transformed to FMS using real time concepts -Mutex in μcos that provides inbuilt solution for priority inversion problem by changing the priority of lowest priority task to highest priority momentarily. In the results section, SMs and FMS results are measured which are dependent on different tasks based on priority levels. Keywords

At present, it is very common to find renewable energy resources, especially wind power, connected to distribution systems, but this also bring new integration related power quality issues, which mainly consist of voltage regulation and reactive power compensation. Induction machines are used in wind power based generations. Induction generators draw reactive power from the system. Therefore, voltage control and reactive power compensation in a weak distribution networks for integration of wind power represent main concern of this paper. The problem is viewed from MATLAB/Simulink simulation of weak distribution network and wind power integration. UPQC is used at a point of interconnection of wind farm and the network; the system absorbs the generated wind power while maintaining its voltage level. UPQC is one of the best devices which are used for power quality improvement in power networks. The UPQC, which has two inverters that share one DC link capacitor, can compensate the power flow and improve the voltage stability. Keywords

It is believed that there are currently millions of vehicles on the roads worldwide. The over speed of vehicles ,theft of vehicles, disobeying traffic rules in public, an unauthorized person entering the restricted area are keep on increasing. In order restrict against these criminal activities, we need an automatic public security system. Each vehicle has their own Vehicle Identification Number („VIN‟) as their primary identifier. The VIN is actually a License Number which states a legal license to participate in the public traffic. The proposed paper is to identify the vehicle with the help of vehicles License Plate (LP).LPRS is one the most important part of the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) to locate the LP. In this paper certain existing algorithm drawbacks are overcome by the proposed morphological operations for LPRS. Morphological operation is chosen due to its higher efficiency, noise filter capacity, accuracy, exact localization of LP and speed. Keywords

In the beginning stage, face verification is done using easy method of geometric algorithm models, but the verification route has now developed into a scientific progress of complicated geometric representation and identical procedure. In recent years the technologies have boosted face recognition system into the healthy focus. Researcher‟s currently undergoing strong research on finding face recognition system for wider area information taken under hysterical elucidation dissimilarity. The proposed face recognition system consists of a narrative exposition-indiscreet preprocessing method, a hybrid Fourier-based facial feature extraction and a score fusion scheme. We have verified the face recognition in different lightening conditions (day or night) and at different locations (indoor or outdoor). Preprocessing, Image detection, Feature- extraction and Face recognition are the methods used for face verification system. This paper focuses mainly on the issue of toughness to lighting variations. The proposed system has obtained an average of 88.1% verification rate on Two-Dimensional images under different lightening conditions. Keywords

The study analyses the impact of dumping municipal solid waste (MSW) in Erumapalayam situated in the heart of Salem city and brings to light the level of health hazards created by water contamination. An area of about 1000m radius was chosen for collecting the water samples. Accordingly, for every 250m radius, four water samples each were collected from all four directions east, west, north and south and totally 16 such samples were taken for the study.
Parameters like pH, turbidity, total dissolved solids (TDS), alkalinity, total hardness (TH), calcium, iron, manganese, nitrate, chloride and fluoride were tested. The test results were analysed and compared with IS: 10500 (1991, 1993) and WHO. The test results of groundwater samples when compared with BIS and WHO Standards, it was found that the parameters like TDS, alkalinity, TH, chloride and nitrate exceeded the desirable limits, which infers that the groundwater up to a radius of 1000m is not suitable for drinking purpose.

Ethyl alcohol used to be produced from cane sugar waste. The old process requires 4 kg of cane sugar waste worth to produce a liter of ethyl alcohol. Production of ethyl alcohol from sugary materials is one of the oldest known microbiological processes. Alcohol is an important solvent and raw material used in a variety of chemical industries. Although today industrial alcohol is also produced synthetically from ethylene, production of alcohol by fermentation of cheap sugary materials such as molasses by yeast is still an important industry. In this project work, a detailed study was carried out about "Ethanol production efficiency from molasses using yeast and two different species of bacteria". The bacterial species are Zymomonas mobilis and Erwinia species. The main aim of the project work is to compare the efficiency and give the detailed study of the results. The raw material generally used is either crude cane molasses or best molasses which contain about 50 per cent fermentable sugars. For ethyl alcohol production, selected strains of Saccharomyces cerevisiae are employed since all the strains are not equally efficient. The alcohol tolerance and sugar tolerance are important criteria used in the selection of yeast strains. Strains tolerant to high sugar and alcohol concentration are desired. Ethanol production from molasses using Saccharomyces cerevisiae was studied. The yield and efficiency of the ethanol were determined. Similar work is carried out using Zymomonas mobilis and Erwinia species. Keywords
