The present investigation was conducted during 2004-05 rabi season to test the influence of gibberellic acid (GA3) and planting date on growth and flowering in gladiolus cv. Yellow Frilled, at S.D.A.U., S.K. Nagar (Gujarat). This was done in a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replications and analysed under factorial setup to study the interaction. Results revealed that the earliest sprouting in corm, maximum plant height, number of leaves plant-1, leaf area plant-1, early spike emergence, number of spikes plant-1 plot-1, spike length, rachis length, number of florets spike-1, and flowering duration were recorded in the earliest planting date, i.e., 25th October. Dipping corm in GA3 (100pm) also proved to be the best leading to earliest corm sprouting, and various growth/flowering parameters. From these results, it is concluded that in gladiolus, planting on 25th October along with dipping of corms in gibberellic acid (100ppm) at the time of planting, is most effective for improved growth and flowering. Keywords

Ticks are widely distributed in most of regions of the world in tropical and subtropical regions including India. Hyalomma anatolicum are the commonest tick species in India infesting cattle and buffaloes and cause significant economic losses to diary and leather industries by adversely affecting the milk production and quality of hides. Synthetic pyrethroid (deltamethrin) and formamidine (amitraz) have been used to control Hyalomma anatolicum in most part of Hisar, Haryana. Which result in development of resistance against both the acaricides. Collection of the ticks were done from different gaushalas around Hisar, Haryana. Then these ticks were subjected to adult immersion test with a discriminating dose (AITDD) against deltamethrin and amitraz. Results revealed high degree of resistance against Deltamethrin 76.6% and 93.3% in R.(B.) microplus and Hyalomma anatolicum ticks of Gurana and Mangali region respectively. Which may be due to long time exposure to pyrethroids or may be due to inappropriate application of deltamethrin in tick infestation. In case of amitraz prevalence of resistance is low in comparison with deltamethrin, which was 23.3% in R.(B.) microplus ticks collected from Gurana region. Keywords

The Cyclic imides and their Derivatives have been attracted significantly more attention of organic and medicinal chemists due to their antimicrobial activities. The derivatives of six member cyclic imides were synthesized by the action of glutaric anhydride with different substituted aromatic amines to obtained 4-(N-phenylcarbamoyl) butanoic acid. These intermediates undergo ring closer with acetyl chloride furnished six member cyclic imides derivatives. All these derivatives were screened for their antimicrobial activities. Keywords

In the present work, an efficient synthesis of some new Amino-Pyrimidine Derivatives has been created through response of chalcones of cyclic imides and guanidine nitrate in presence of neutral alumina. The new synthesized amino-pyrimidines showed synergistic significant activities against Candida albicans and Aspergillus nigerfungal strains. Keywords
