A new species of the echinostomatid trematode Patagifer sanyali n. sp. collected from intestine of Porphyrio poliocephalus obtained from a site nearby to Agasthyamalai Tiger Reserve Forest, Tirunelvelli (Dist.), Tamil Nadu, India is described and illustrated. The new species is compared with other species of the genus Patagifer and found closer to P. wesleyi Verma, 1936 and P. bilobus (Rud. 1819) Dietz, 1909 but it differs from them by its unique feature of bilobed testes, and having fifty collar spines. A key to the Indian species of the genus Patagifer Dietz, 1909 is provided to distinguish it from all of them.Keywords

Birds show a good number of trematode infection in their internal organisms which may not fatal to them, parasitized with symbiotic effect. Nine examples of Bulbul, Bubuicus ibis coromandus Boddaert were caught by mist net at Solan Camp during the faunal exploration. Out of which two were been dissected out to examine the faunal biodiversity of helminthes infection, rest were allowed to fly again to the sky. Three trematodes were collected from two , Abird hosts and are identified as Episthmium (soianensis), which are new to science.Full Text

The present study deals with the comprehensive account of the Platyhelminthes parasites of fish of economic importance from Diamond Harbour coast of West Bengal. 38 species belonging to 28 genera under 17 families of trematode parasites and 5 species belonging to 4 genera of 3 families of Acanthocephalan parasites from fish hosts have also been reported. This study shows that the rate of platyhelminthes parasitic infection in the fish is less in winter than in comparison to other seasons.Keywords
