Traditionally psychologists have focused on negative effect of stressful life events, but now there is growing realization that in some people it can bring positive change or posttraumatic growth. Most of the studies of posttraumatic growth were conducted on adults, there is some debate whether this topic is appropriate to study in children or not. In view of this present study was planned to study "sense of coherence, social support and coping as predictors of posttraumatic growth in orphan children." Sample of the present study comprised 50 subjects (age 10-12). Sample was collected from different orphanages in Delhi. Sense of coherence was measured by the Sense of Coherence Scale developed by Antonovsky (1987). Social support was measured by Social Support Questionnaire for children (SSQC) developed by Gordon, Thompson, Kelley, Schexnaildre, and Burns (2010). Coping was measured by Youth Coping Responses Inventory (YCRI) developed by Hernandez, Vigna, and Kelley (2010). Posttraumatic growth was measured by Posttraumatic Growth Inventory for Children (PTGI-C) developed by Cryder, Kilmer, Tedeschi, and Calhoun, (2006). The effect of these three predictor variables (sense of coherence, social support and coping) were assessed on the five dimensions of posttraumatic growth (i.e. relating to others, new possibilities, personal strength, spiritual change and appreciation of life). Obtained data were analyzed with the help of simultaneous multiple regressions. Results showed that total sense of coherence was not found as a significant predictor but when dimensions of sense of coherence were studied as predictors of different dimensions of posttraumatic growth, manageability dimension of sense of coherence was found to be significant predictor of all but one dimension of posttraumatic growth, i.e., spiritual change. Total social support was a significant predictor as well as its two types, i.e., peer and adult of most of the dimensions of posttraumatic growth.Keywords

Heart, cancer and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) are very serious diseases rising in the world. These diseases not only create distress in the patient's life but also influence negatively caregivers' life. Factors, such as physical, and psychological health, financial burden, limitation on freedom and social interactions (that accompany the care recipient's need for supervision), and the additional roles assumed by the most caregivers including those of wife, parent, spouse and employee, all contribute to caregivers distress. This distress thus, affects the quality of life (QOL) of caregivers. Many researches have been carried on the various aspects of heart, cancer and AIDS patients. The present research was planned and carried out with the objectives of measuring and comparing the QOL of caregivers of heart, cancer, and AIDS patients. Total sample of the study comprised 120 subjects, 40 in each three groups, i.e. caregivers of heart, cancer and AIDS patients. Data were collected from various hospitals of Delhi. The WHOQOL-BRIEF questionnaire (1996) was used to collect the data. ANOVA and post-hoc test were used to analyze the data. Results showed a significant difference among the three groups of caregivers of heart, cancer and AIDS patients on overall QOL and its domains, i.e., physical health, psychological, social relationship and environment. Caregivers of heart and cancer patients have better QOL than the caregivers of AIDS patients.Keywords

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a degenerative, progressive and irreversible chronic brain disease. It has an insidious onset; is characterized by gradual loss of cognitive and behavioral functions, and by affection disturbances, compromising the physical, mental and social integrity of the elderly. Present study examined anxiety, depression and psychological well-being among the Caregivers of Alzheimer's disease Patients. Sinha's anxiety scale, Beck depression inventory (BDI) and Ryff's scale of psychological well-being were administered on 20 the subjects in VIMHANS, New Delhi. The data were analyzed by using small sample t- test. Results demonstrated that significant differences were found between male and female caregivers on depression, self-acceptance, positive relations with others, autonomy, and environmental mastery dimensions of psychological wellbeing. Female scored higher than male on depression whereas, male scored higher than females on self-acceptance, positive relations with others, autonomy, and environmental mastery dimensions of psychological wellbeing. However, significant differences were not found between male and female caregivers on anxiety, purpose in life, and personal growth dimensions of psychological wellbeing.Keywords

The Cyber Victimization Scale (CVS) for adolescents was developed to screen and assess the cyber victims. The goal of this study is to analyse the factor and criterion validity and the reliability in a sample of adolescents from Delhi/NCR. For this purpose, extensive literature review, focused group interviews and a survey was conducted on a sample of 100 school students, aged 16-18 years, studying in grade 11th and 12th. Next, pilot data was collected on a sample of 200 adolescents to establish factor structures using Principal Component Analysis (PCA) in SPSS software 21.0. Using the final scale of 10 items falling under three factors (forms of cyber victimization, traditional bullying, & routes to cyber victimization), data was collected on a sample of 1010 adolescents and victims (n= 127) were screened out. Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) was performed using Smart PLS software 2.0 on a randomized sample of 249 adolescents (Victims=127; Non-Victims=122). It is concluded that CVS is a valid and reliable self-report tool of identifying cyber victimization in adolescents.Keywords

This study surveyed and compared the general well-being among three generations, that is, generation X, generation Y, and generation Z, in the Indian context. Total data were collected from 224 participants; among these, 81 participants belong to generation Z, 99 participants belong to generation Y, while 44 participants belong to generation X. The aim of the study was to find out does there exist any difference in the measure of happiness and well-being among the three generations, that is, generation X, generation Y, and generation Z. The data collection was carried out through survey method by giving out a questionnaire, through both online and offline media. The PERMA Profiler (Butler & Kern, 2016), which is a general measure, developed for adults, aiming to measure the overall well-being of an individual in terms of 5 domains: positive emotion, engagement, relationships, meaning, and accomplishment, was used for the study. One way ANOVA in the IBM SPSS version 25 was run to analyse the data. The analytical study showed no statistical difference exists among the measure of happiness and well-being in the three generations. Thus it could be concluded that all three generations under study have a similar measure of happiness and well-being. Further more, according to the 'labels' discussed by Butler and Kern (2016), it has been seen that the mean score of all three generations falls in the category of 'Normal Functioning'.Keywords

Previous researches have positioned well-being as an integral variable of mental health correlated with other factors like satisfaction with life and life orientation. The present research examines well-being, life satisfaction, and orientation towards life among teachers during COVID-19. During the initial phases of COVID-19, the Government imposed lockdown in the month of May-June (2020). This led to the closure of all the schools and colleges, offices, public places, etc. Although the schools were closed, staff and teachers of the schools were asked to perform tasks which included the distribution of ration, home surveys, shift- work at hospitals, airports, shelter homes, etc. With an increasing rate of infections and mortality, the teachers were hesitant to volunteer for any COVID duty and were generally apprehensive about being called up for such duties. In this research, 364 school teachers (both male & female of 27-60 years) were included as an inclusive sample of those performing and not performing any such duty from Delhi, India. The present research aims to understand the dynamics of well-being among teachers during COVID. It utilizes measures of the Life Orientation Test-revised (LOT-R), Satisfaction towards Life Scale (SWLS), and Warwick-Edinburg Mental Well-being Scale (WEMWBS). Correlation and multiple regression are used as statistical measures to find out the relationship and predictability among the variables. Results show a significant relationship among Life orientation, life satisfaction and well-being and well- being is significantly predicted by life satisfaction and orientation towards life. Discussion suggests that similar results are being observed among variables under consideration amid COVID and future implications are drawn out from the present study.
