Since our ancestors are using Moringa oleifera as a traditional source of medicine. Moringa oleifera is said to having nutritional and antihelmintic activity. In some region it is also used as an immune builder and detoxifier. This experiment was conducted to evaluate that Moringa oleifera posses anti bacterial activity or not. To assess the effect of extract several bacterial strains were used which includes Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus cereus, Micrococcus luteus and Enterobacter aerugenes. The activity was determined using paper disc diffusion method. Concentrations of extract were 1000mg/ml, 750mg/ml, 500mg/ml, 250mg/ml and standard drug tetracycline was used in the concentration of 250mg/ml. Moringa oleifera shows very little activity against Escherichia coli and Enterobacter aerugenes but Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus cereus, Micrococcus luteus and staphylococcus aureus are resistant to the action of Moringa oleifera. The anti bacterial activity produced at 1000mg/ml and the activity is less than standard drug tetracycline (250mg/ml). So the conclusion of experiment is Moringa oleifera possesses little anti bacterial activity at very high concentrations.

The Ayurvedic system of medicine mentions many of churna formulation. One of them is Trikatu churna, nowadays most widely used in cold, cough, indigestion and gastric discomfort. Trikatu churna is finely powdered (# 80) mixture of Zingiber officinalis, Piper longum and Piper nigrum. The main object of this study was to check the quality of laboratory prepared Trikatu churna as well as to establish certain qualitative and quantitative parameters which may help in standardization of churna. The WHO guidelines were followed to evaluate laboratory preparation and individual drug component to gather the information regarding the quality. The standardization of churna was carried out by evaluating parameters like powder photomicroscopy, TLC study and preliminary phytochemical study. In addition to these, Trikatu churna and individual powder components were evaluated by physicochemical parameters like bulk density, % porosity, % compressibility, Hauser's ratio, flow property etc. These additional parameters were useful to establish certain quantitative standards for assessment of Trikatu churna. In microscopic study, we have identified the different cells and tissues which give clear identity of the content of Trikatu churna. The phytochemical screening test as well as simultaneous TLC study confirms presence of reported chemical constituents and presence of each individual drug in churna by comparing Rf values respectively.

The purpose of this research work was to evaluate the cytotoxic activity of Sulfonamide derivatives against the panel of lung cancer and breast cancer cell lines, which were MDAMB-453, MCF-7, MDAMB-468, NCI-H23, and NCIH522 with one normal cell lines, which was HEK-293T (Human embryonic kidney cell line); by comparing the results with the standard drug Doxorubicin. For primary screening, sulfonamide derivatives were screened at 100 μM concentration against all cell lines with the use of XTT based cytotoxicity assay and the compounds which were found to be active as a anti-cancer and those with lower IC50 value below 60 M were again subjected to MTT assay for confirmation. From the results, Compound No. 1 having substitution with chlorine group showed cytotoxicity against panel of breast cancer cell lines (IC50 = 48.39 μM in MCF-7, IC50 = 36.86 μM in MDA-MB453 and IC50 = 38.52 μM in MDA-MB468) but it is found to be inactive against lung cancer cell lines with no activity in normal cell line.
