Linear mounds of sands, spread over 400 km2 in the Balasore-Contai floodplain and aligned parallel as well as close to the shoreline are not past strandline markers. It is suggested that these are compound products of fluviatile deposits capped by aeolian accumulations during late Holocene, albeit undated, arid intervals. The mounds were stabilished by soil and vegetation cover and are presently under anthropogenic attack.Keywords

Introduction: 15 patients were admitted to Civil Hospital, Ahmedabad with complains of cramping pain and weakness in bilateral lower limbs. They were found to be suffering from subacute motor neuropathy.
Material And Methods: All were investigated for abnormalities in complete haemogram, blood biochemistry, B12 levels, nerve conduction studies and cholinesterase levels. Results: There was distal muscle weakness in bilateral lower limbs with loss of deep tendon reflexes in lower limbs with EMG suggestive of axonal and demyelinating neuropathy with reduced RBC cholinesterase levels. Discussion: From history and investigations it was found that the ingestion of wheat contaminated with tri-ortho-cresyl phosphate (TOCP) lead to axonal and demyelinating type of polyneuropathy.

Pyrophyllite deposit at Madrangjodi is a large lensoidal massif overlain unconformably by Dhanjori quartzite and underlain by the parent Singhbhum granite (Phase - II). Pyrophyllite and quartz are the major minerals with minor to trace amounts of muscovite, chloritoid opaques and tourmaline. It is broadly divisible into lamellar, granular and schistose varieties. SiO2 (66.90-74.36 %) and Al2O3 (20.80-27.54 %) are the major oxides. The major elements data indicate its derivation from Singhbhum granite with depletion of SiO2 and increment of Al2O3. Trace and REE data are discussed to corroborate its genesis.Keywords
