A pot experiment was carried out in green house to study the effect of nitrogen and potassium on nutrient content, uptake and grain yield of wheat. The increase in nitrogen level increased the straw and wheat yield of wheat. The protein content also increased with the increase in level of nitrogen level. The nutrient content and uptake also increased with the increased in level of nitrogen level. The increase in potassium level increased the straw and wheat yield of wheat. Field studies were conducted in 2008-09 and 2009-10 at Pulse Research Area of Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar to determine the effect of post emergence herbicides on nutrient uptake by field pea and weeds. All the herbicide treatments significantly reduced the nutrient uptake by weeds than weedy check. Among the herbicide treatments, minimum and maximum uptake of nutrients by weeds and crop, respectively was recorded under the application of pendimethalin 1.5 kg ha-1 followed by imazethapyr 50 g ha-1.Keywords

Artificial recharge to groundwater is steadily assuming importance in the wake of the decline in water level in several parts of the country. Recharge through an injection well is the most suitable option of artificial recharge for semi-confined and confined aquifers, especially in urban and industrial areas as it requires little space. Recharging capacity of a well is an important criterion in deciding the number of recharge structures required for large-scale planning of artificial recharge. The present work focuses on determining the recharging capacity of a well in a semi-confined alluvial aquifer in the middle Ganga Plain, wherein it has been found that the actual recharging capacity is lesser than the product of the well-specific capacity and available pressure head.Keywords

Chaya Formation (Late Pleistocene-Holocene) of Dwarka-Okha area in Saurashtra peninsula, Gujarat, is subdivided into the lower Okha Shell Limestone Member and the upper Aramda Reef Member. A ca 1.5m thick succession of coral-alga1 lithofacies of Aramda Reef Member that has been radiometrically dated at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute, U.S.A. to 41.2-18.3 ka, is exposed in a well section near Mithapur (district Jamnagar), and is described here. The environmental conditions during Late Pleistocene are also discussed.Keywords

Retinal blood vessels are the only part of blood circulation that can be observed directly. Doctors manually segment retinal images to evaluate the progression of diseases like diabetes and hypertension. The manual tracking is a tedious process. The retinal images have low and uneven contrast with respect to the background. Thus, a robust model is needed for describing the intensity variations for segmenting the vessels. Phase congruency based edge detector using the principal moments is very well adapted to this description. The paper purposes a simple contrast invariant retinal image segmentation using phase congruency model with a good edge localization. Initial results using STARE database (average sensitivity of 0.94, specificity of 0.66 and average accuracy of 0.91) are promising and comparable with other techniques in literature.Keywords

In image processing, image de-noising has become an essential task for many researchers. Mainly ultrasound images contain speckle noise which degrades the quality of the images. Eliminating such kind of noise is an important preprocessing task. A wavelet based thresholding scheme for noise suppression in images by using statistical method is purposed in this paper. Our method helps to find out the optimum threshold value by analyzing the statistical parameters of the wavelet sub-band coefficients like standard deviation, arithmetic mean and geometrical mean. The noisy image is decomposed into 2 levels to obtain the different frequency bands. Then consequently soft thresholding method is applied to remove the noisy coefficients, by calculating the optimum threshold by the purposed method. Experimental results on several test images by using the proposed method show that, the proposed method yields significantly better image quality and better Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR). Quantitative and qualitative comparisons of the results obtained by the proposed method with the results achieved from the other speckle noise reduction techniques demonstrate its better performance for speckle reduction.

Data is increasing at a speed that is even difficult to capture in today's world as a result of regular uploading of data to the internet. Social networking websites are the main sources for the collection of this huge amount of data. This collection of online data happens at a great pace. "Big Data" is a collection of data sets that is extremely large in numbers highlighting its size; it varies from one another i.e. different varieties of data; and velocity of collection of data i.e. its speed. This extreme amount of data is difficult to handle by traditional software packages. Hence it becomes necessary to introduce a new and efficient method to handle this huge data and then came into existence is Hadoop. Hadoop is an open source project that enables separation of processing of different datasets using simple programming model along with high rate of fault tolerance. Hadoop consists of two main parts: HDFS for storing large amount of data and MapReduce for analysis of data. A field experiment was conducted at C.C.S. HAU, Regional Research Station, Bawal to evaluate the effect of phosphorus and sulphur fertilization on fodder yield and quality of cowpea (Vigna unguiculata). There was significant increase in green and dry fodder yield with increase in S levels from 0 to 40 kg/ha. Similarly, with increase in P2O5 level from 0 to 60 kg/ha, there was significant increase in green and dry fodder yield of cowpea. Application of 60 kg/ha P2O5 with 40 kg/ha S resulted in maximum green and dry fodder yield of cowpea as compared to other treatment combinations. Crude protein, ether extract and ash content were increased with each increment of P2O5 and S levels while crude fiber and nitrogen free extract showed reversed trend.Keywords

Background: To find out the fluctuation in the prices and arrivals of the Bengal gram crop.
Method: The study was conducted for the period of 2003-2016 by collecting secondary data from APMC market. The major APMC Markets are selected purposively on the basis of high prices and arrivals in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh which are the major Bengal gram growing states of India.
Findings: There is a positive and significant growth rate has been observed in the prices of selected APMC markets Bareilly and SHUJALPUR which is 0.78 and 0.49 respectively but there observed a positive and insignificant growth rate in the arrivals which is 0.07 and 0.02 at 5% level of significance. Both Bareilly and SHUJALPUR market have high seasonal indices in the month of May and June indicated the high post-harvest arrivals in the months. The low arrivals in the month of August, January, and July indicated the shortage and speculation in the pulse market. There was an inverse relationship between arrival and prices of Bengal gram in the selected markets from the above findings.
Improvements: This study suggested for improvement in the infrastructure, transportation, storage facilities and there is need to strengthen the market information network.

This research aims to examine the effect of thought self-leadership (TSL) on performance through selfefficacy and work engagement. The study collected data through a questionnaire survey administered to the employees of various Indian organizations representing different roles. The findings suggest relationships between TSL and performance and mediation mechanism through which self-efficacy impacts performance. The findings imply that TSL has a positive effect on performance through self-efficacy and work engagement.Thus, organizations should invest in developing TSL skills across all levels of employees and also create an enabling environment to boost work engagement. The contribution of the study lies in integrating the research in self-leadership and performance area and testing the relationship in different cultural context.References
