Asclepias curassavica L. (Family: Asclepiadaceae), commonly known as 'Kakatundi' an important Ayurvedic drug used as emetic, astringent, anthelmintic and a remedy in piles and gonorrhoea. All the parts are used in the indigenous system of medicine. The present investigation deals with the macro-microscopical structure of the leaf, micro chemical tests, quantitative study, study of the powdered drug, fluorescence analysis and determination of physical constant values. Leaf is dorsi-ventral, stomata present on both the surfaces. Latex is present in laticifers.- Pharmacognostic Study of the Root and Rhizome of Parnassia Nubicola Wall. A survey conducted in the neighbourhood of Kedamath and the adjoining area brought to light that the wayside traders employ ischolar_mains and rhizomes of Parnassia nubicola Wall, ex Royle (Pamassiaceae) as ‘Mamira’, reputed to be good for various eye ailments. The ischolar_mains of this species look similar in gross appearance to those of Thalictrum foliolosum DC. (Ranunculaceae), which is one of the various species that have been attributed to 'Mamira' (Chopra et al. 1956). The present paper deals with a detailed pharmacognosy of the ischolar_main and rhizome of Parnassia nubicola Wall, ex Royle.- Pharmacognostical Study of Root Bark of Erythrina indica Lam. Paribhadra

Paribhadra, one of the reputed drugs of the indigenous system of medicine, is equated with Erythrina indica Lamk. Syn. E. variegata Linn. var. orientalis Linn., Family Fabaceae. Some other species of Erythrina viz. E. suberosa Roxb. and E. stricta Roxb., have also been mentioned as 'Paribhadra in different text books on Indian Medicine and are used as substitutes for the genuine drug, Erythrina indica. The pharmacognostical study is made of the ischolar_main and ischolar_main bark of E. indica Lamk., as based on material collected from authentic specimens and covers macro- and microscopical characters highlighting the diagnostic features, micro-chemical tests, examination of the powdered drug and preliminary phytochemical investigation.

The purpose of this paper is to draw attention to the changing pattern and scope of fabrication in building of heavy machinery. This is necessary in view of the requirement and demand and ever increasing size of heavy machinery with more rigorous and stringent service conditions. So far we are mostly acquainted with either fully cast or fully fabricated bodies for various heavy machineries. But both types of components do not satisfy fully all requirements like dynamic and fatigue stresses due to cyclic or shock load ; abrasion, erosion and corrosion problems : severe wear and tear as normally encountered in heavy machineries for cement, paper, sugar, chemical, material handling, thermal plants and equipments.- Ductile Iron Pipes for Water Mains

Mild steel ERW welded pipes are costly and scarce for use in water mains. Cast Iron spun pipes serve as an alternative with its inherent defect. Search for years have been on to improve the properties of case iron and the result is ductile iron spun pipes. In 1954, Japan started commercial marketing of ductile iron pipes. Today, besides Japan it is produced and used in many countries of Europe and the U. S. A.- Ductile Iron Pipes for Water Mains
