India is a land of Buddha and Gandhi. It has given birth to intellectuals like Ambedkar and Swami Vivekananda. Morals, values and tradition of this country has made every resident to be proud of been an Indian. But the time is changing rapidly, leading an average Indian to move away from its traditional values of love, peace, contentment and empathy. This paper is a journey, leading to understanding of problems been build on by the current generation and how the solutions could be searched from our Vedic tradition. The thinking process called Hinduism and its perception by Mahatma Gandhi, could lead to practical solutions of the existing 21st century problems and can even teach human being to live a peaceful co- existence with other beings.Keywords

Women in our culture have always being portrayed as the courageous ones. She has that mental power to overcome all obstacles and take care of her man and his family in every and any kind of situation. Resilience is one of her greatest strength. On these lines, the current research was carried out to find the level of resilience in women having lost their husbands at different ages of their lives. One group consisted of women who became a widow at the age of 25-35 years and the other group consisted of women who lost their husbands after 55 years and above. For the purpose of the study, resilience scale was being used, and each group consisted of 10 widows. The results clearly showed that the resilience level of widows in the first group was much lower and even the ways to recover were quite different when compared with the second group.Keywords

There is a notion that schools have responsibility of building the character of the children, provide them right guidance on right time and for their overall well being. Moving in this line, Indian government has made the presence of school counselors mandatory in the school premises. Indian laws and Indian government has recently laid emphasis on the importance of school counselors. Though the role of school counselors is not specified and defined, which eventually leads to juggling of work between administration, counseling, teaching etc. This study focuses on understanding the job specification and job satisfaction of school counselors in Meerut city For the purpose of study, a semi-structured interview was being prepared and a standardized tool was been used, to get an understanding of role clarity, job description and job satisfaction of school counselors from 12 different schools of Meerut city.Keywords

Positive psychology has come up as a field which portrays a balanced view of human beings. The present research aimed at understanding the aspects of positive psychology (Quality of Life) in relation to geriatrics. The study tried to find the difference between elderly from different culture and living arrangements on Quality of Life. A pilot study was conducted to find the correlations between the English and the Hindi translated versions of the tool used, as the elderly sample was comfortable with the Hindi language. OPQOL (Older people Quality of Life Questionnaire) based on QOL ONS Omnibus Survey (2008) was used for study. The total sample under study were 179. The sample was classified on the basis of culture (rural & urban) and living arrangements (living with families, living with old age homes & those living only with spouses). The comparison of different aspects of Quality of Life on the basis of culture showed that rural elderly are much higher than urban elderly on their Physical health. Social relationship. Freedom, Psychological and Emotional well-being and also Finances. The overall comparison of different aspects of Quality of Life for whole sample, showed that for Health, Home and Freedom; the mean scores portrays a higher level for rural elderly living with families, then comes urban elderly living with families after that urban elderly living only with their spouses and at last urban elderly living in old age homes. For overall Life and Social Relationships the mean values are highest for urban elderly living with families then comes rural elderly living with families after that urban elderly living only with spouses and at last urban elderly living in old age homes. For Psychological well being and Finances, the mean values were highest for rural elderly living with families, then comes urban elderly living with families, after that urban elderly who are living in old age homes and at last urban elderly staying only with their spouse. The research observed that rural elderly showed a better Quality of Life.Keywords
