The success of any fixed prosthesis is multifactorial right from preparation to passive fit during cementation,various phases both in clinical and laboratory procedures. Die preparation is a procedure without which the success of any prosthesis is compromised. Different systems have been used for preparing die which serves as a platform for the construction of pattern for future prosthesis. Over the years, these die systems passed various modifications and innovations striving towards precision that governs the fit of any prosthesis. This article evaluates two such systems which evolved independently for their positional accuracy through-out a simulated laboratory procedure.Keywords

Background: The science of dental impression materials must be necessity encompass a knowledge and appreciation of certain biological consideration that are associated with the selection and use of materials designed for the oral cavity. The minute amounts of components that leach out of impression materials are most unlikely to cause toxic reactions, locally or systemically. Reliable analysis data is therefore necessary to clarify the varied issues of safety and frequency of adverse reactions normally medicine, together with dentistry treatment.
Method: A literature review was done to analyse the biological considerations of dental impression materials and its hazards.
Conclusion: Many potential problems exist, but few documented adverse reactions have been published. It is expected that one requirement will be for clinicians and manufacturers to report biological side effects associated with use of the materials to certifying bodies or health authorities. Reliable research information using robust methodology is therefore required to clarify the varied questions of safety and frequency of adverse reactions in general dentistry, including Prosthodontic treatment.

Background: Interocclusal recording materials are generally used in prosthetic dentistry to register the jaw relationship. These materials have a wide range of viscosity, elasticity, and volumetric changes within various material groups. Newer elastomeric interocclusal materials are chemical modifications of elastomers whose comparative properties relevant to clinicians are yet to be studied.
Aims: To compare the dimensional change between the polyvinylsiloxane bite registration materials manufactured by different brands within the duration of 12 hours, 24 hours, and 48 hours storage.
Methodology: The dimensional changes of the different polyvinylsiloxe bite registration pastes were compared three-dimensionally in different time intervals with the standardised die measurement was 25mm between the vertical lines.
Conclusion: Within the limitations of the study, it was found that all 3 interocclusal recording materials NEOSILK, CADBITE, AND O-BITE showed no significant distortion when stored in-vitro for 12 hours. All Materials showed significant distortion when stored in-vitro for 24 hours and 48 hours. All three materials showed more distortion when stored in 48hours compare to 24 hours. Among polyvinyl siloxane interocclusal recording materials NEOSILK showed better dimensional stability when compared with CADBITE and O-BITE when stored in-vitro 24hours and 48hours. Hence we recommend Neosilk bite material for better dimensional stability when compare with other materials.
