Service improvement seeks to continuously adapt and improve processes and pathways to benefit patients, careers and healthcare providers, and to support clinical excellence (NHS Institute for Innovation and Improvement, 2008).Recently, national initiatives have Emphasized the importance of frontline staff in service improvement; ensuring that these staff can influence and manage Change is essential for delivering new models of care (Kerridge, 2012). Clinical pathways and service processes have evolved over time, often through a local Response to workforce, service or clinical modifications rather than through conscious decisions to improve them. This can often result in complex patient pathways that lack logic; when asked why something happens, the answer can frequently be "because that's how it's always been done" rather than "because this is the best way". The aim of pathway and process reviews is to give a clear and full understanding of the existing state so problems can be identified and changes made to improve the patient experience and care pathway. One way of doing this is through process mapping, which aims to clarify the clinical pathway by providing a visual presentation of each step of the process (Hong, 2010).Keywords

Transient tachypnea of the newborn (TTN) is a self-limited disease common in infants throughout the world and is encountered by all neonatologist who care for newborn. Approximately 1% of infants have some form of respiratory distress that is not associated with infection. Respiratory distress includes both RDS (ie, hyaline membrane disease) and transient tachypnea of the newborn, of this 1%, approximately 33-50% has transient tachypnea of the newborn. Infants with transient tachypnea of the newborn present within the first few hours of life with tachypnea, increased oxygen requirement, and ABGs that do not reflect carbon dioxide retention. It is mostly seen in full or near term babies, risk is equal in both males and females, no racial predilection has reported. Babies born with TTN need special monitoring and treatment while in the hospital, but afterwards most make a full recovery, with no lasting effect on growth and development. It consists of a period of rapid breathing (higher than the normal range of 40-60 times per minute). It is likely due to retained lung fluid, and is most often seen in 35+ week gestation babies who are delivered by caesarian without labor. Usually, this condition resolves over 24-48 hours. The chest X-Ray shows hyperinflation of the lungs including prominent pulmonary vascular markings, flattening of the diaphragm, and fluid in the horizontal fissure of the right lung. Treatment is supportive and may include supplemental oxygen and antibiotics. Keywords

The waste produced in the course of healthcare activities carries a higher potential for infection and injury than any other type of waste. Inadequate and inappropriate knowledge of handling of healthcare waste may have serious health consequences and a significant impact on the environment as well. This study aims to see whether PTP has significant impact on level of knowledge and expressed practices of sanitary workers regarding bio-medical waste management, relationship between level of knowledge and expressed practices and to seek the association between knowledge scores with selected demographic variable. The experimental approach one group pretest post design and non- Probability purposive sampling technique, data was collected by using self report interview technique. The collected data was analyzed a it shows that there was marked gain in the mean knowledge score (73.31%) and expressed practice (72.10%) after PTP. There was positive relationship seen between level of knowledge and expressed practice at 0.05 level (t=0.273). There was no significant association found between selected demographic variables (age, gender, and work experience, present area of work, monthly income and source of information) with knowledge score nurses regarding Bio-Medical Waste Management. Keywords

Crouzon syndrome is a rare genetic disorder characterized by distinctive malformations of the skull and facial region. Premature cranial suture closures the most common skull abnormality; Optic disc edema and proptosis are among the most common ocular findings. Crouzon syndrome is an autosomal dominant disorder with complete penetrance and variable expressivity it is characterized by premature closure of cranial sutures, most commonly the coronal and sagittal sutures resulting in abnormal skull growth and affection growth and development of the orbits and maxillary complex. Keywords

Reiki is described by adherents as a holistic therapy which brings about healing on physical, mental, emotional and spiritual level the belief is that the energy will flow through the practitioner's hands whenever the hands are placed on, or held near a potential recipient. Some teachings stress the importance of the practitioner's intention or presence in this process, while others claim that the energy is drawn by the recipient's injury to activate or enhance the natural healing processes. Further to this notion, the belief is that the energy is "intelligent", meaning that the Reiki knows where to heal, even if a practitioner's hands are not present in the specific area1. It has been effective in helping virtually every known illness and malady and always creates a beneficial effect. It also works in conjunction with all other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery. Keywords

Varicose veins are abnormal, dilated blood vessels caused by weakening in the vessel wall. Such conditions that increase pressure on the leg veins such as overweight, lack of exercises, hormonal fluctuations during pregnancy and menopause, smoking; constipation or people who are prolong standing or sedentary position or repeated heavy lifting make veins of legs very weak and develop into varicose veins. Researchers reports that "A mild care of varicose veins does not usually require a doctor's care, it can relief from the discomfort with at-home treatment and various alternative remedies, such as acupuncture and acupressure, aromatherapy, colour therapy, diet and supplements, herbal therapy, exercise, Yoga, homoeopathy, hydrotherapy etc". Other preventive measures are maintaining ideal weight and to avoid prolong standing and tight clothing that constricts waist, groin or legs; avoid crossing legs when sitting, avoid wearing high heels and eat low salt diet that is rich in high fibre food to reduce retention of water or swell. Keywords

Nursing informatics is a combination of computer, information, and nursing sciences. This new and expanding field addresses the efficient and effective use of information for nurses. Preparing nurses for computerization is essential to confront an explosion of sophisticated computerized technology in the workplace. It is critical in a competitive health care market for preparing nurses to use the most cost-effective methods. A model is presented that identifies six essential factors for preparing nurses for computerization. Strong leadership, effective communication, organized training sessions, established time frames, planned change, and tailored software are the essential factors to consider for development of a successful educational program. At present, nursing informatics is an emerging field of study. National nursing organizations support the need for nurses to become computer literate and versed in the dynamics of nursing informatics. We are at a transition period. Becoming educated in nursing informatics is, for the most party, a self-directed and independent endeavor. Keywords
