There are many phenomena that lead to signal loss on transmission through the earth's atmosphere in satellite communications. These include: Atmospheric Absorption, Cloud attenuation, Tropospheric Scintillation and Rain attenuation. Rain attenuation is by far most important of these losses for frequencies above 10 GHZ, because it cause largest attenuation. In this paper, the effects of the tropospheric scintillation and rain attenuation on Ku band signal is studied and analyzed at Kondapalli, Vijayawada. A real time data logger in this aspect has been developed to study the influence of weather conditions and thereby to log the variation of RF signal strength from satellite. Novel software is developed to calculate and analyze rain attenuation which is formulated based on ITU-R model.Keywords

A cluster of four kimberlite bodies was discovered on the left bank of the Penner River near Timmasamudram village. Falling in the area known for alluvial diamond occurrences within the Wajrakarur Kimberlite Field (WKF), this cluster is located between the Kalyandurg Kimberlite Cluster in the west and Chigicherla Kimberlite cluster in the east. With the addition of kimberlite bodies in the present cluster, christened as the Timmasamudram Kimberlite Cluster (TKC), the total number of kimberlite bodies in WKF reaches to 27. Texturally, mineralogically and chemically, the kimberlite bodies in TKC match with the archetypal Group-I kimberlites. Typically they fall in the non-micaceous kimberlite field. The mantle xenocrystic mineral chemistry shows conditions congenial for diamond formation in these pipes, which is further supported by actual microdiamond recovery from the soft kimberlitic yellow ground.Keywords

Three kimberlite pipes are reported from Siddanpalli village in Gadwal area, Mahbubnagar district, Andhra Pradesh, bringing to light a new kimberlite cluster. Significance of the find lies in the fact that these kimberlite pipes are located in the Krishna river basin well known for its alluvial diamond mining activity since historic times. Search for primary source rocks of diamond in close proximity of the well known alluvial gravel workings for diamonds along the palaeochannels of the River Krishna, has resulted in the discovery of a lamproite field comprising several lamproite clan rocks in parts of Krishna and Nalgonda districts of Andhra Pradesh (South India). These rare rock types are defined in this work as 'lamproites', on the basis of their occurrence in a unique tectonic setting and containing one or more of the typomorphic minerals and having the requisite rock geochemical characters of members of the suite as a whole. These bodies with an exotic and diagnostic mineralogy, composition and textures occur in a complex tectonic setting with unique intrusive history. The discovery of this lamproite field is considered very significant from the point of diamond exploration as it is located very close to the famous Golconda Mines along the banks of the River Krishna which yielded many of the celebrated diamonds in the past. This field is christened "Krishna Lamproite Field", in view of the proximity of the lamproite occurrences to the Krishna River having the alluvial placer diamonds. These rocks are emplaced along the eastern margin of the Precambrian Dharwar Craton, at the contact between the northeastern periphery of the Proterozoic Cuddapah Basin and the Archaean crystalline basement rocks, in the form of dykes (usually in clusters) and plugged conduits. The emplacement is controlled by major faultslfractures, trending in NNW-SSE and WNW-ESE directions and occur closely associated with mafic (dolerite) dykes and followed the same channels for their emplacement. The lamproites contain glass, numerous vesicles, and xenoliths of the basement granite-gneiss, dolerite and probably platformal sediments of the Cuddapah Basin, besides exhibiting fragmental and pyroclastic textures supgestive of near-surface emplacement. Radiometric age determinations suggests emplacement of these lamproites took place around 1224±14 Ma, probably during the reactivation of major crustal lineaments coinciding with the uplift of the mid-Proterozoic Nallamalai sediments of the Cuddapah Basin.Diopside, phlogopite, tetra-ferri phlogopite, richterite, sanidine, apatite and pseudomorphs of leucite, enstatite and olivine are the major primary constituent minerals present. Diopside-leucite-lamproite, phlogopite-leucitelamproite, olivine-lamproite and richterite-phlogopite-lamproites are the variants. The bodies are ultrapotassic (molar K2O/Na2O >10), and contain high TiO2, P2O5, K2O, MgO, Ba, Sr, Zr, Cr, Ni, La and Ce, pointing to crystallisation from typical lamproite magma. The presence of mantle peridotite xenoliths and xenocrystic minerals such as chromediopside, spinel and garnet indicate deep seated mantle derivation of the Krishna lamproites.

Effects of quercetin, vitamin C and E on PCB exposed ventral prostaitc zinc content were studied in adult albino rats, a group of 20 rats were treated with Aroclor 1254 (2 mg/kg bwt/day/IP) for 30 days. Five rats were treated as PCB control. The remaining 15 rats were subdivided into the following subgroups of five animals each. In the present investigation, 100 osteoporotic men with 100 age-matched normal were studied for serum sex steroids, parathyroid hormone (PTH), thyroid hormone (T3), cytokines and bone turnover markers. Serum dihydrotestosterone (DHT) was significantly decreased in osteoporotic men compared with normal. In osteoporotic men, there was a significant increase in serum interleukin (IL)-lalpha. A marked increase in bone formation marker, serum osteocalcin (OCN) and bone resorption marker, serum tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase (TRAP) reflects high bone turnover in osteoporotic men. In conclusion, the present findings point out an important role of DHT in maintaining BMD in men. A strong positive correlation of serum DHT with BMD offers new perspectives in understanding the role of non-aromatizable androgen in the regulation of bone metabolism in men.Keywords

Testing is an experiment in which a system is exercised and the resultant behavior is examined to make sure that the system behaves correctly. System Test tests consist of elements, test vectors, and test variables. Each of these entities to create a variety of test scenarios ranging from a simple test, which runs a series of elements once to a full parameter sweep that iterates over the values of test vectors. Test vectors and test variables map data between System Test and the model or unit under test. A Composite Video Pattern Generator is constructed, which can be used as a teaching tool in the video field as well as a laboratory instrument, useful for repairing and adjusting pattern generation of video display. This work is implemented for pattern Generator video display which is having Counters and the video pixels generated in horizontal and vertical directions. The simulation is carried out to find out the minimum set of good test vectors for the four patterns.Keywords

A virtual hardware resource is provided by dynamically reconfigurable Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) where the hardware circuits can be scheduled dynamically to the available resources. Significant performance and energy overheads are involved in reconfiguring an FPGA. The relationship between several hardware task scheduling algorithms and their impact on the amount of reconfigurations required to execute a set of hardware tasks is shown in this paper. By selectively locking the configurations within the reconfigurable tiles of an FPGA, the number of reconfigurations required can be reduced. Working area of the tiles can be improved and utilized for more number of tasks by assigning specific range of tiles for every task set.Keywords

In recent years, the Internet of Things (IoT) has received outsized research attention. The IoT is considering as future of the internet. In future, IoT will play a vital role and will change our living styles, standards, as well as business models. The usage of IoT in different applications rises quickly in coming years. The IoT will connect billions of devices, peoples, and services to share their information. The increased usage of IoT devices, the IoT networks are prone to various security attacks. The utilize efficient security; privacy protocols in IoT networks is extremely needed to make sure confidentiality, authentication, access control, and integrity, among others. In this paper work, an extensive complete study on security and privacy issues in IoT networks is provided.

Objectives: TLPL/AY/03/2008 is a polyherbal formulation intended for treatment of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, lumbago, spondylitis etc., Acute and repeated dose 90‑days studies were conducted to evaluate the safety profile of TLPL/AY/03/2008 in rats. Materials and Methods: In acute study, TLPL/AY/03/2008 was orally administered to Sprague Dawley rats at 2000 mg/kg. In repeated dose study, TLPL/AY/03/2008 was administered to rats at 200, 500 and 1000 mg/kg through oral gavage for 90 days and assessed for treatment related changes in body weight, feed consumption, hematological, biochemical and pathological parameters. Histopathological examination was conducted for tissues from control and the high dose groups and was extended to target organs from the lower dose and recovery groups. Results: In acute study, the test item did not produce any mortality or adverse clinical signs. In the 90‑days oral toxicity study, animals did not exhibit any toxicity symptoms and no deaths were observed. No significant changes were found in hematological and biochemical endpoints. Also, toxicologically significant alterations in relative organ weights were not observed. Microscopic findings of mild to marked, diffuse hepatocellular degeneration (vacuolar changes with granular of cytoplasm and pyknotic nuclei of hepatocytes) was noticed in males at 1000 mg/kg body weight. Animals of recovery group (1000 mg/kg) did not show any changes when compared with control group animals indicating the complete reversal. Conclusions: Based on the findings of the study, the median lethal dose of TLPL/AY/03/2008 was found to be more than 2000 mg/kg. The No Observed Adverse Effect Level (NOAEL) of TLPL/AY/03/2008 can be considered as 1000 mg/kg in both male and female rats, under the experimental conditions and doses employed.Keywords

Aim and Objective: The aim of this study is to assess the awareness of diabetes mellitus and knowledge about the various aspects of diabetes including types, treatment modalities, preventive measures and lifestyle modification in the patient population visiting a Dental Hospital in Chennai.
Materials and Method: In this study, a questionnaire was prepared and circulated among the subjects to determine the awareness and to inspect the knowledge about the symptoms, diagnosis and preventive measures about Diabetes mellitus among the people. The study sample comprised of totally 100 subjects, both males and females of age group between 20 and 50 years.
Results: According to the survey 52% of the individuals are aware about that diabetes can lead to further complications. 82% of the individuals felt that the diabetes can be controlled by exercise. 19% of individuals have not undergone any confirmatory tests for diabetes. 50% of the individuals were under medication for treatment of diabetes and they experienced side effects while taking those medications. 50% of the individuals who participated in the survey have attended a formal diabetes educational programme and they are aware of diabetes through media,relatives and doctors.
