Abstract

Studies were conducted to know the status of available micronutrient in relation to chemical properties in soils of Ausa tahsil of Latur district. For this purpose 100 surface soil samples were collected from 20 villages. The data show that these soils were neutral to alkaline in reaction, safe in EC, low to medium in organic carbon, and non-calcareous to calcareous in nature. Considering soil nutrient index value these soils were low in Zn and high in respect to Fe, Mn and Cu. Data show that available Zn was significantly and positively concluded with EC (0.20*) and O.C. (0.28*). Fe had significant negative relationship with pH (-0.47*) and CaCO₃ (-0.32**) while mn possessed significant negative correlation jpH (-0.33**) and CaCO₃ (-0.36**) and significant positive with O.C. (0.36**). Copper did not exhibit significant correlation with chemical properties.

Abstract

A field experiment was conducted during 2005-2006 to study the response of durum wheat to nitrogen and irrigation levels on growth and yield of durum wheat. The findings of the study indicated that using NIDW 15 was found to be beneficial in increasing growth and yield of wheat. Application of 120 kg N ha^-1 and irrigation at CRI+tillering+flowering+grain development was observed to be beneficial in increasing growth and yield of wheat.

Abstract

Field experiment was conducted to study the response of fertilizers and organic manure on Growth, Yield and quality of sweet sorghum with four levels of fertilizers (Control, 40:20:20:,80:40:40 and 120:60:60 NPK kg ha^-1) and five levels of organic manures (No manure, VC 2.5t ha^-1, VC+ Azospirillum, VC + PSB, VC+ Azospirillum+ PSB) . Results indicated that application of 120:60:60 NPK kg ha^-1 recorded the highest plant height, dry matter accumulation, leaf area, grain yield, green cane yield and juice yield, and application of 80:40:40 NPK kg ha^-1 recorded the highest values of TSS, pH, reducing sugar, non-reducing sugar and total sugar percentage of sweet sorghum juice. Application of vermicompost @ 2.5 t ha^-1 along with seed treatment of Azospirillum and PSB enhanced the growth characters and produced highest yield and enhanced the quality.

Abstract

Laboratory experiment was conducted to know the status of available N, P and K in relation to phyco-chemical properties of soils from Ahemadpur tahsil of Latur district. For this, one hundred surface soil samples were collected from 20 villages (5 samples from each village). The analyzed samples showed that these soils were neutral to moderately alkaline in reaction, safe limit in EC, low to high in organic carbon and non calcareous to calcareous in nature. The results further indicated that soils were low to medium in available N and P while, available K was medium to high range. The available P showed significant negative correlation with soil pH while, EC had significant positive correlation with available K in soil.
