Abstract

Bio-efficacy of Aureofungin-sol, an antifungal antibiotic, for control of downy mildew and powdery mildew of grape was evaluated during October 2008 - April 2009 fruiting season in vineyards at three locations in Maharashtra. Four to nine sprays of Aureofungin-sol, @ 0.108, 0.163 and 0.217 g/l, starting from 12-16 days to 46-75 days after fruit pruning gave good control of downy mildew on leaves and bunches, and increased harvestable yield over the Control. Similarly, four sprays of Aureofungin-sol @ 0.108 g/l at 11 to 20 days' interval at 65 days after pruning provided complete control of powdery mildew on leaves and bunches. No residue of Aureofungin-sol was found in harvest samples above the limit of detection (0.1 mg/kg).

Abstract

COVID-19 pandemic has significantly impacted on every aspect of mankind. Education sector is not left behind. Many education organizations around the world are closed now. The whole education system specially teaching-learning, knowledge sharing, evaluation methods etc. have been shifted from offline to online platform. Teachers are forced to work from home and they persistently trying to adopt new modes of virtual teaching. The new normal working process is challenging for them in keeping their motivation to work. Lack of physical face to face communication with students, colleagues, the Principals is affecting in teachers’ motivation to work. This research study is an explorative case study and the sample was selected by using purposive sampling technique. For this study 9 female teachers of a Kolkata based college, West Bengal were chosen. They were interviewed on telephone to collect data. In-depth interview derived findings are divided into themes and discussed. This study will be beneficial for the higher education authority to concentrate on the role of virtual interpersonal communication in respect of teachers’ motivation.

Abstract

COVID-infected people handling fruits and vegetables may spread the virus to healthy people on contact. Here we examined if SARS-CoV-2 was detectable on the fruits, vegetables, hand gloves and packaging materials collected from the open markets and pack houses in India. During the study (2021–22), swabs from 748 samples representing the majorly traded items were tested using RT-LAMP assay. The sensitivity and specificity of the kit were found to be equivalent to the RT-PCR assay. All test samples were found negative for SARS-CoV-2. Thus, it can be concluded that the virus is unlikely to spread to foods and packaging materials through human contact
