Automatic visual surveillance systems could play an important role in supporting and eventually replacing human observers. The proposed frame work contains four modules viz detection, tracking, feature extraction and action classification. The person has to be found in the image plane first, using robust background subtraction by modifying the parameters in Gaussian Mixture Model (GMM), assuming a static camera. Centroid based tracking is done consecutively. Silhouette shaper based features are extracted, including aspect ratio of minimal bounding box of human silhoutte, approximated eccentricity, normalized central moments. Human actions are classified by grouping, enhancing efficient hierarchial clustering. In this paper a multi-sample-based similarity measure has been proposed where HMM training and distance measuring are based on multiple samples. These multiple training data are acquired by a dynamic hierarchical clustering (DHC) method. By iteratively reclassifying and retraining the data groups at different clustering levels, the initial training and clustering errors due to overfitting will be sequentially corrected in later steps. Human behaviours are obtained from clustered data set and trained neural network kit to describe their appropriate classes. The results are evaluated by means of sensitivity, specificity and accuracy.Keywords

Back ground: Labour is one of the most common stressed and painful situations which adversely affect the maternal and new born outcome leads to many complications. Objective: To assess the effectiveness of selected nursing intervention on maternal and newborn outcome among primigravida mothers. Design: One group true experimental post test only design was adopted for the study. Setting: Government Hospital, Cheyyur, Participants: 20 primigravida mothers completed thirty six weeks of gestation fulfilling the inclusion criteria were selected by simple random sampling. Methods: Nursing interventions like Breathing exercise, massage, position changes implemented during intrapartum period and level of pain perception assessed with universal pain assessment tool during uterine contractions of first stage of labour. Followed by early initiation of breast feeding done through breast crawl technique. Maternal and newborn outcome assessed with ongoing assessment tool. Collected data was analyzed by using descriptive and inferential statistics. Results: In post test the mean score for the level of pain perception in experimental group was 6.5 (SD=1.58) and the control group was 9.1 (SD=0.88) with paired t' value of 4.55. The mean score of experimental group maternal outcome was 23 (SD =3.13) and the control group outcome was 27.4(SD=4.62) with paired t' value of 2.49. In experimental newborn outcome the mean score was 7.7 (SD=1.06) and control group newborn outcome score was 6.8(SD=0.92) with paired t value of 2.04. This showed that the selected nursing interventions were effective for good maternal and newborn outcome during labour. There was a statistically no significant association found between the post test score of the sample with their demographic variables. Conclusion: The findings imply the need for non pharmacological methods of nursing interventions were effective management during labour among primigravida mothers.Keywords

Background: Osteoarthritis is the most common cause of rheumatological problem and is most frequent joint disease with high prevalence in India among geriatric clients. This is the most common cause of loco motor disability in the elderly population.
Objectives: To assess the effectiveness of selected nursing strategies Vs acupressure on osteoarthritis among geriatric clients.
Design: Two group pretest and post test true experimental design was adopted for the study.
Setting: Selected old age homes in Tamilnadu.
Participants: 30 Geriatric clients with Osteoarthritis fulfilling the inclusion criteria were selected by cluster random sampling.
Methods: A pretest was conducted by using WOMAC scale and EQ-5D, QOL assessment scale. Immediately after pre-test selected nursing strategies Vs acupressure was given for 8 weeks and again post test was conducted to assess the effectiveness of treatment. Collected data was analyzed by using descriptive and inferential statistics.
Results: In post mean score of the experimental group I mean score was 55.40(SD=12.60) and the group II mean score was 65.40(SD=10.53). This showed that the selected nursing strategies was effective than acupressure in enhancing the practice of the sample regarding Osteoarthritis and the quality of life of geriatric clients.
Conclusion: The findings imply the need for educating geriatric clients on effective management of Osteoarthritis.

Background: Osteoarthritis ia chronic degenerative joint disorder having a significant economic impact on our health system. Osteoarthritis is known to be most frequent in the lower extremity, especially the knee joint. Objectives: To assess the effectiveness of structured teaching programme on knowledge regarding self care management among knee Osteoarthritis patients. Design : One group pre test and post test Quasi experimental design was adopted for the study. Setting: Selected hospitals at Thiruvannamalai. Participants: 40 patients with fulfilling the inclusion criteria were selected by simple random sampling. Methods: A pre test was conducted by using knowledge questionnaire related to Osteoarthritis. Immediately after pre test Structured Teaching Programme was given to the patient to read about the Osteoarthritis for 7 days and 8th day post test was conducted to assess the effectiveness of STP. Collected data was analysed by using descriptive and inferential statistics. Results : In pre test , the mean score of the sample was 5.2 and the post test mean score was 22.5 with the mean difference of 58.8 This showed that the STP was effective in enhancing the knowledge of the patients regarding Osteoarthritis. There was a statistically no significant association found between the post test scores of the sample with their demographic variables. Conclusion: The findings imply the need for educating patients on effective management of Osteoarthritis..Keywords

Objectives: To analysis various models to improve the prediction of crop yield production.
Methods: In this paper, there are different methods has been analyzed to predict the crop yield. The methods such as artificial neural network, Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy inference System, Fuzzy Logic and Multi Linear Regression are analyzed to know the best methods for crop yield prediction. The prediction of crop yield varied by internal factors and external factors of crop an environment. The internal factors such as pesticides, water level, spacing and fertilizers and the external factors such as temperature, humidity, and rainfall. There are various models were developed to predict the crop yield prediction. This paper provides detailed information about the different models for crop yield prediction.
Findings: In this paper various models for crop yield prediction are compared through their parameters such as Root Mean Square Error (RMSE), R2,correlation coefficient and Mean Square Error (MSE) to prove Adaptive NeuroFuzzy Inference System (ANFIS)prediction model is better than other techniques.
Application/improvements: The findings of this work prove that the Adaptive Neuro Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) prediction model provides better result than other approaches.

Background: Breast cancer is one of the most prevalent cancers among women in world. Unfortunately, even after adequate treatment, some patients experience severe pain either due to disease progression or due to treatment related side effects. Aim: The purpose of this study was to describe the impact of five interventions on the quality of life (QOL) and the role of FACT-B Questionnaire in this way to health care professionals achieve a deeper understanding of QOL. Methods: The data for the research were collected by FACT-B scale one week and four months after breast cancer treatment with chemotherapy. In this Pilot study of 20 breast cancer patients took part in the intervention of Aerobic, Acupressue, Guided Imagery, Amla supplementation and Spiritual counselling.QOL was assessed using FACT-B Scale. Results: The results show that the patients with breast cancer receiving chemotherapy benefitted from the practised interventions during and after the treatment. In prior to enforce the QOL model, the breast cancer patients had poor quality of life. The effectiveness of the intervention was evaluated by post test scores. The mean score had improved from 48.05-99.07 with paired tvalve of 19.59 (P<0.05) after implementation of multi intervention package. The finding shows that there was a highly significant association found between pre and post scores. The Chi-Square test result shows that there is no significant association between patients with breast cancer receiving chemotherapy with demographic variables. Further research is required to determine the effectiveness of multi intervention package with large samples and to identify their underlying mechanism.Keywords

Title: Effectiveness of reflexology on pain and anxiety among primi post natal caesarean mothers at selected hospital Kanyakumari. Introduction: Caesarean is a surgical procedure done to save the life of the mother and the baby. Due to this mother experience pain and anxiety during the postnatal period which affects daily activities as well as comfort and well being. To relieve pain and anxiety non pharmacological methods can be used, such as reflexology. Purpose: To evaluate the effectiveness of reflexology on pain and anxiety among post natal caesarean mothers at selected hospital, kanyakumari District. Method: A quasi experimental pretest, post test control group design was adopted for this study. 60 primi postnatal caesarean mothers who met the inclusion criteria were selected using non probability (Purpose sampling technique) from C.S.I. hospital Neyyoor. Paired't' test was used to evaluate the effectiveness of reflexology. Chi square test was used to find out the association between pretest pain and anxiety with selected demographic variables. Result: in the pretest out of 60 primipostnatal mothers 30 in interventional group and 30 in the control group. 27(90%) had severe pain the interventional group 28((93%) had severe pain in the control group. In the post test 2 (7%) had severe pain, (1%) had moderate pain and 27 (90%) has mild pain. The't' value 9.539 was compared with tabulated value at the level of p<0.001 was significant. This showed that reflexology was effective in reducing pain among caesarean primi postnatal mothers. Regarding anxiety in the pretest 23 (76.6%) had severe anxiety, 7(23,3%) had moderate anxiety in the interventional group. In the control group 27(90%) had severe anxiety the 't' value 16.09 was compared with tabulated value at p<0.001 was significant. Conclusion: The findings of the study concluded that reflexology was effective in reducing pain and anxiety among primipostnatal caesarean mothers.Keywords

Background: Performing breast self-examination (BSE) every month, starting at age 20 is an important tool in the early detection of breast cancer. Early detection of breast cancer plays a leading role in reducing mortality rates and improving patients' prognosis. Aim: The purpose of the current study was to determine women’s' practice of BSE and knowledge about risk factors of breast cancer. Method and Material: A descriptive study design was used, with a sample of convenience 112 women in pachampalyam community area between January and March 2015. A self administered questionnaire was used for data collection. Results: mean age of the respondents was 29.5; (SD=8.3) years and ranged from 35 to 45 years. More than half of the studied group married and 47.3% worked for more than 5 years 95.5% had no previous breast health problems and family history of breast cancer was reported by 12.5%. Only 19.4% of the studied sample performed BSE regularly. The practice of BSE was not significantly associated with socio demographic characteristics. Conclusion: study findings suggested that there were gaps between knowledge and practice of BSE among women’s.Keywords
