Objective: To study the nephroprotector activity of the bioflavonoid, rutin (50 and 100 mg/kg, p.o.) on cisplatininduced nephrotoxicity (6mg/kg, i.p.) in albino rats. Materials and Methods: Nephroprotector activity of rutin was assessed by estimating the levels of blood urea nitrogen, serum creatinine, serum total proteins, urinary protein, creatinine clearance, urine to serum creatinine ratio and lipid peroxidation in kidney. Results: Cisplatin elevated the serum markers level, increased the protein excretion in urine, reduced the creatinine clearance, urine to serum creatinine ratio and renal malondialdehyde level was increased. Animals which received rutin, in curative and prophylactic groups significantly reversed the effects induced by cisplatin. Conclusion: From the results it is revealed that rutin effectively reduced the cisplatin-induced renal toxicity in albino rats. Keywords

One hundred and forty-eight subjects drawn from urban, semi-urban, slum and rural settings hospitalized for medical and psychiatric problems within the previous three years were interviewed using a semistructured interview schedule to understand client opinion and experiences of informed consent. Sixty nurses providing primary health nursing care in both urban and rural areas were concurrently interviewed together client opinion. Results revealed that respondents were dissatisfied with the different aspects of client illness. Both the nurses and the clients felt the need for providing adequate information to utilizers of nursing care services. The two groups identified certain constraints like illiteracy, in obtaining nursing informed consent. Nurses, compared to clients, more often felt that illiterates could not understand the information. Clients more often felt that information about nature of investigations and about prognosis need not be routinely conveyed to them. Keywords

The ischolar_mains of Ruellia tuberosa L. are recommended for kidney stone disorders in the Indian traditional system of medicine. Ethanolic extract of R. tuberosa ischolar_mains was evaluated for antiurolithiatic activity against 0.75% v/v ethylene glycol and 2% w/v ammonium chloride induced calcium oxalate urolithiasis and for antioxidant activity against hyperoxaluria induced oxidative stress in male albino rats. Ethylene glycol and ammonium chloride administration increased the deposition of calcium and oxalate in the kidneys, urinary excretion of calcium, oxalate and creatinine in the preventive and curative control rats. In these groups, increased levels of malondialdehyde and depleted levels of antioxidant enzymes, reduced glutathione and catalase were observed. On treatment with the extract, a significant reduction in the deposition of calcium, oxalate and also urinary excretion of calcium, oxalate and creatinine was observed, indicating its antiurolithiatic effect. The extract administration also decreased the extent of lipid peroxidation and enhanced the levels of antioxidant enzymes in the kidneys of urolithic rats, reflecting its antioxidant efficacy against hyperoxaluria induced renal oxidative stress. Results of the present study support the traditional claim of R. tuberosa ischolar_mains in treating renal calculi. Keywords

Conventional grids are being replaced by smart grids nowadays to improve the transmission efficiency and to incorporate the recent power electronics based compensation devices. The proposed system deals with the voltage compensation using BIST, battery and PV cell for smart grid applications, which has three stages high voltage high frequency bidirectional AC/DC rectifier, bidirectional DC/DC dual active bridge converter and bidirectional DC/AC inverter. This paper mainly focuses on the voltage balancing of DC link which lies between DC/DC converter and DC/AC inverter by connecting two DC sources viz. PV and battery across the capacitor. In order to maintain a constant voltage across the DC link, a droop control with droop curve is proposed for battery and BIST. With this power management system, typical case studies have been analyzed using MATLAB simulation and it was verified with the prototype hardware. Keywords

Hand washing for hand hygiene is the art of cleaning the hands with or without the use of water or another liquid, or with the use of soap, for the purpose of removing soil, dirt, and/or microorganisms. The main medical purpose of washing hands is to cleanse the hands from pathogens (including bacteria or viruses) and chemicals which can cause personal harm or disease. This is especially important for people who handle food or work in the medical field, but it is also an important practice for the general public. In response to this concern, we formulated the antibacterial Liquid soap. Experiment was performed by selecting the herbs which were reported to have antibacterial activity. They are Ocimum sanctum and Eugena caryophyllus. Formulated liquid soaps were evaluated for physical parameters like colour, fragrance and chemical parameters like pH, % Free alkali, Test for chlorides, Foam height, Foam retention, Alcohol insoluble matter, Microbial count etc. and the obtained results were in the acceptable limits except foam height and foam retention as we are not using SLS.

This paper mainly deals with the design of an evolutionary algorithm for a Multi Travelling Salesman problem. The solution for this problem in multi application fields becomes a highly NP hard type problems which is in need of an efficient solution. The aim of the study is to find an optimal schedule of a salesman which is formed as a multiple objective problem. The mathematical model for the Multi Objective in Multi Travelling salesman problem is stated with the corresponding notations. To get an optimal schedule an evolutionary based approach is proposed to meet the criteria. The proposed algorithm is modelled and stimulated as a program and tested with a suitable example. The output results are given as a grant chart, with the optimal sequence schedule of each salesman. Keywords

Bio-fertilizers are fertilizers containing living microorganisms, which increase microbial activity in the soil. This study was conducted at randomly selected five villages of Erode district of Tamil Nadu. 100 per cent awareness of bio-fertilizers was found in that area but awareness on crop specific usage of biofertilizers was only 19 per cent. The main source of information about bio-fertilizers was the shop owners (46 per cent) and Agriculture Officers (29 per cent). Usage level of bio fertilizers was 60 per cent and the main reason for using bio fertilizers were to restore the soil fertility (34 per cent) and increase crop yield (32 per cent). Reason for not using these bio fertilizers was unaware of usage method of bio fertilizers (80 per cent). So, a step has to be taken to educate the farmers about bio-fertilizers.Keywords
