Objectives: To improve the quality of the product, an automatic control of temperature, humidity and irrigation was designed for a greenhouse. Methods/Analysis: This paper describes the sensors, actuators, controllers, control algorithms and software that make it possible to know and maintain within an optimal range environmental variables of temperature and humidity inside the room fruiting; as well as substrate moisture feeding the fungus. Findings: As a result, a simulation of the designed system was obtained by a software supervisory control and data acquisition. Improvements: It was concluded that the proposed system is the ability to monitor and control environmental variables, described it above, in the greenhouse of eatable mushroom Orellana; and to adjust variables to a window it was verified that is sufficient control “on/ off”.Full Text

Objectives: This document describes an automatic irrigation system design, using SCADA software and wireless sensor network. Methods/Analysis: The system was made using the drip irrigation system method, and the communication the field and the supervisor system was established using ZigBee devices connected in mesh topology. The SCADA system monitors four variables of the field: temperature, soil moisture content, water and nutrient level and status of the ZigBee device. Findings: The purpose of this paper is not only to contribute knowledge to the development of the Colombian field, through the application of new technologies of irrigation automation of crops, but to motivate research, development and innovation around this topic. Improvements: It is contemplated the use of a web portal where you can monitor the system, thus adding a notification mode. In addition, the use of redundancy to avoid loss of data in the crop, both on the side of data acquisition, and on the side of storage.Full Text

Objectives: This paper shows the development of an application for the historical record of the values with which a wastewater treatment filter operates in the oil industry, used to eliminate traces of oil and solids, and make it suitable in the injection processes or shedding. Methods/Analysis: After analyzing the data, we proceeded to identify the variables within the filter that had to be shown in the program. After that, the programming work was done in the Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) to make this data accessible. The software Microsoft Excel and RSLinx were selected for the final development, the data was communicated from the PLC to this software, and the application was developed, together with its respective simulation and its use was demonstrated in a real case. The entire process is described in this document and, at the academic level; it can be a source of consultation or guidance for the development of applications and subsequent developments. Findings: Process that is automated and therefore uses a PLC (programmable logic controller) for control and operation, together with HMI screens (Human Machine Interface), which make it possible for operators to control and supervise their operation, but do not have software that allow to record its value over time, software that would be useful for field coordinators, maintenance managers and manufacturer representatives, in order to determine efficiency parameters and detect or correct faults. Objectives: This paper describes the process of designing a SCADA platform developed on a graphic programming environment using the Labview software tool. Methods/Analysis: Its purpose is aimed at monitoring the fuel consumption of diesel power plants and their electrical generation, making it possible through the interface and graphic indicators, to show the levels of level in the fuel tanks, the consumption of diesel in real time and electrical generation among others, in order to determine if a generator is behaving efficiently according to the indices determined by the manufacturer. Findings: If the operating criteria are not maintained, it would mean that fuel waste is being produced with the economic and environmental implications that it also implies that electromechanical corrections must be made in order for there to be efficient electrical generation. Improvements: You can use a web portal where you can monitor the system, adding a notification mode.Full Text

Objectives: To present a guide for decision making when replacing a low-efficiency three-phase electric motor with a high efficiency three-phase motor and the technical and economic factors that must be considered in said process. Methods/ Analysis: This study is making use of a methodology based on the multi-criteria selection method called AHP (Analytical Hierarchical Process), which is a formal instrument for the evaluation and selection of alternatives, with solid mathematical foundations and simple in its application. Findings: For centrifugal applications, special care must be taken when selecting a high efficiency motor, since due to the effect described by the affinity laws the energy consumption will be greater than expected. Improvements: A possible solution to reduce the effects of higher consumption in centrifugal loads would be the use of Frequency Variators or change of pulley ratio.Full Text

Objectives: To design and implement a poor posture indicator device based on the use of accelerometers and an Android application. Methods/Analysis: It begins with the design of the circuits based on the selected sensors, the characterization of these from a specific distribution along the spine and finally the development of a mobile application that allows to alert bad posture according to a certified standard in orthopedics. Findings: The back was approached from the bio-mechanical point of view through three basic curves to determine if a person is or is not well positioned in order to alert him about his bad posture so that he can correct it and thus reduce the likelihood of suffering ailments in the future. Improvements: The way in which the sensors are secured to the user can be improved, thus ensuring their proper operation.Full Text

Objectives: To describe the design and implementation of an autonomous vehicle monitoring and guidance system (AGV) based on machine vision. Methods/Analysis: The design of each of the modules was established: Machine vision that obtains the position, orientation and identification of each AGV from the recognition of the detector codes. The wireless communication interface from the use of the Xbee module and that establishes the communication between the AGVs and the central host. And the central controller makes the decision of the host for each AGV as the control of traffic and movement. Findings: For each of these modules the relevant tests were carried out in 3 stages in which the first one tested the HMI that allows the user to control the whole system. The second stage tests were performed on each of the modules for one and two cameras, and the last stage examines the behavior of the complete system from the data obtained from the second stage. Improvements: By using a better resolution camera the system can operate with better results.Full Text

Objectives: To determine the criteria to follow for the implementation of a SCADA system in the design of an intelligent micro-grid. Methods/Analysis: Through this development some problems have been evidenced to maintain the control and communication in the interaction of each one of the elements that intervene in the network. For this reason it is intended to design a SCADA system for the control and communication of each one of the elements that intervene there in order to mitigate the problems evidenced. Findings: Obviously the issue concerning the optimization of energy resources to reduce the negative impact on the environment is an imperative parameter that every developed country should have and is a determining factor to ensure both the economic sustainability and the social and environmental well-being of a country. Improvements: This is how automation and control allows a network to be intelligent so that said network can optimize energy resources with quality.Full Text
