Abstract
The study of convective heat and mass transfer flow over a vertical plate with nth order chemical reaction in a porous medium is analyzed both analytically and numerically. The resulting governing boundary layer equations are highly non-linear and coupled form of partial differential equations and have been solved by using implicit finite difference method of Crank-Nicolson. To check the accuracy of the numerical solution, steady-state solutions for velocity, temperature and concentration profiles are obtained by using perturbation method. The effects of various parameters such as thermal Grashof number, solutal Grashof number, chemical reaction, order of chemical reaction, radiation, thermal conductivity, Prandtl number and Schmidt number on the velocity, temperature and concentration profiles as well as skin friction, Nusselt number and Sherwood number are presented graphically. The numerical results showed that both temperature and concentration increases with the increase in chemical reaction while velocity decreases. It was also observed that the numerical and analytical solutions are found to be in an excellent agreement.
