Background: Men who have Sex with Men (MSM) are a vulnerable population and need special attention in the fight against the global pandemic of HIV/AIDS. The term MSM was created in the 1990s by epidemiologists in order to study the spread of disease among men who have sex with men, regardless of identity. Proper IEC to promote condom use and promotion of safe sexual practice among MSM is the need of the hour. Material and Method: A descriptive, cross sectional study was conducted among 200 MSM of Meerut. The study period was four months from July 2012 to October 2012. They were interviewed using a pre-designed semi structured questionnaire , the different variables under study included sociodemographic characteristics like age, literacy status, occupation, marital status, social class and different aspects of knowledge regarding HIV/AIDS . All the clients were interviewed after taking oral consent and on the basis of anonymity. The data was analysed by proportion and percentage.
Results: In the study, most MSM were being in the age group 15 to 30 years. The literacy status was varied with 121 ( 60.5%) being illiterate while 37(18.5.%) were educated up to higher secondary and above. 132 (66.00%) MSM were married, and belonged to various occupations. majority 50 (25%) of clients were students. Most of respondents were from lower class 108 (54.00%) and middle class 67 (33.5%). Majority i.e. 125 (62.5%) of the MSM were feminized males and practicing receptive anal sex. Panthis 20 (10.00%) who considered themselves real males and practiced insertive anal sex and Eunuche 55 (27.5%) who traditionally called Hizras. The most common sexual act was anal sex .The use of condom was very poor with only 20 (10.00%). The use of lubricants was also very poor with only 05 (02.5.%). 70 (35.00%) MSM had many venereal diseases. The knowledge of MSM about the unnatural sexual offences was in only 15 (7.5%). Few MSM knew that unnatural sexual offences is a crime under section 377 IPC
Conclusion: MSM includes self-identified gay men, primarily among the urban, English speaking elite and middle classes. Males are often easier to access for sex and than female sex workers .It was quiet distressing to find that 25% of these MSM were students-who were young people who had a productive life and career to fulfill. Getting exposed to HIV/AIDS thus meant a great loss of the most productive population of the country. Many of these men were married and served as the bridge population in the transmission of different sexually transmitted diseases including the HIV epidemic. We conclude, that time has come to address the needs of this highly vulnerable group. Proper IEC to promote condom use and promotion of safe sexual practice among MSM is the need of the hour.

Background: The waste produced in the course of healthcare activities carries a higher potential for infection and injury than any other type of waste. Inadequate and inappropriate knowledge of handling of healthcare waste may have serious health consequences and a significant impact on the environment as well. It is estimated that 10-25% of health care waste is hazardous, with potential for creating variety of health problems. As per implementation of Bio- medical waste management and handling rules 1998, every health workers is expected to have proper knowledge, attitude and practices which can be improved with trainings.
Objectives: (1) To assess the knowledge and awareness of paramedical workers regarding hospital waste management. (2) To assess the impact of educational intervention on the knowledge of paramedical workers regarding Bio-medical waste management.
Methodology: A cross sectional interventional study was conducted among 100 paramedical workers of tertiary care hospital of Meerut from 1st October to 31st December 2011 by using a pre-tested structured questionnaire to detect the level of awareness regarding Biomedical waste management . Data was compared pre and post intervention (Educational training), by paired t-test, considering p<0.05 to be significant.
Results: Among study subjects, 67% were males and 33% were females health workers. This study indicates that baseline knowledge and awareness regarding Bio- Medical Waste Management among the paramedical workers in Tertiary Care Hospital, Meerut UP was quite poor (34.78%). Overall positive change (43.78%) was found in knowledge and awareness of paramedical workers after training. There was 43.78% increase in knowledge about bio-medical waste management before and after educational intervention which was statistically highly significant (p<0.0001)
Conclusion: Knowledge and awareness regarding Bio-medical waste management among paramedical workers was poor. Educational intervention was effective in improving knowledge and awareness regarding Biomedical waste management among paramedical workers.

The Jasrapura granitoid intrudes the rocks of Proterozoic Delhi Supergroup in the northern part of the Khetri Copper Belt (KCB), Rajasthan. It forms a lenticular sheet like body, exposed in the core of an NNE-SSW ) trending anticline formed by the Alwar feldspathic quartzite. Quartz, microcline, microcline-perthite, plagioclase and biotite are the main mineral constituents while titanite, magnetite, allanite and epidote occur as accessory minerals. The Jasrapura granitoid has been characterised as peraluminous, I-type, calc-alkaline granite with subordinate granodioritic component. Various petrological and geochemical parameters collectively indicate its fractionation-related petrogenesis from magma generated in the mantle wedge overlying the subduction zone. The calc-alkaline trend of evolution, high K2O/Na2O ratios, enriched incompatible trace elements (Rb, Ba, Th, U, etc), flat HREE profiles, low (La/Yb)N, ratios and high YbN values of Jasrapura granitoid compare favourably with the post-Archaean arc granitoids. The trace element tectonic discrimination diagrams and spidergrams suggest an island arc tectonic regime for the Jasrapura granitoid.Keywords

The field relationships of the granitoids, particularly their intertwinned and overlapping relationship with the mafic magmatic rocks, their common and typical accessory mineral assemblage, their I-type characteristics, and the major, trace and REE geochemistry, all point towards a common mafic magmatic source, fractionation-related petrogenesis and a complex island arc-marginal basin tectonic regime.Full Text

We conduct this study to maintain the education quality of institute by minimizing the diverse affect of these factors on student's performance. In this Paper, Prediction of student Performance is done by applying Naïve bayes and J48 decision tree classification techniques WEKA tool. By applying data mining techniques on student data we can obtain knowledge which describes the student performance. We investigate dual pump Fiber Optical Parametric amplifier (FOPA) for wide gain bandwidth. With careful optimization of parameters of fiber used for amplification, dual pump FOPAs can effectively serve as high gain saturated, broadband amplifiers. Type of fiber and its characteristics strongly affect the peak gain and bandwidth of the dual pump FOPA. We attempt to optimize the fiber parameters for maximized gain in dual pump FOPAs. Simulation results are based on analytical modeling of dual pump FOPA. Based on these investigation results we demonstrate a flat gain amplifier with peak gain of 38 dB over wide bandwidth of 228 nm using short length Photonic crystal Fibers (PCFs) with high non-linearity (γ>50). We also demonstrate improved gain saturation in dual pump over single pump FOPA.Keywords

Objective: Friction Stir Welding (FSW) is a process in which the tool is given the desired rotation and feed to produce the heat required to weld the joints. The recrystallization temperature is achieved thereby leading to formation of strong weld without the melting of joining materials. In this examination, the Friction Stir Welding of different 6 series Alloy flat pieces (AA6061 and AA6082) of 6 mm thickness was explored. Methods/Analysis: Experimental conditions were finalized and this welding method was performed on plates at various tool rotational velocities of 800, 1100 and 1400 rpm by shifting the welding speeds i.e. 120, 150 and 180 mm/min and tool pin profiles (cylindrical strung and decrease threaded). Tensile tests were done on the acquired welded joints and the outcomes had been investigated utilizing Taguchi L9 strategy. Findings: It was concluded from the present study that the tensile strength is mostly affected by tool rotational speed. Confirmation experiment shows that error (%) associate with tensile strength is 4.03. O p t i m a l setting of process parameters for tensile strength is 1400 rpm, 120 mm/min with cylindrical threaded tool (TPI-22). Application/Improvement: Friction Stir Welding method can emerge as an efficient process used in welding of aluminum alloys with different compositions.Keywords

Objectives: Friction Stir Welding method is used to join two metals or alloys with the help of rotating tool along the butt edges of the workpieces. The material reaches recrystallization temperature which leads to formation of high strength weld without the melting of joining materials. In this research, the dissimilar aluminum alloy plates (AA6061 and AA6082) of 6 mm thickness were Friction Stir Welded and mechanical properties were investigated. Methods/Analysis: Experiment was performed using Taguchi L9 technique and the different plates were welded with the help of friction at different tool rotational speeds of 800, 1100 and 1400 rpm by shifting the welding speeds i.e. 180, 150 and 120 mm/min and tool profiles (cylindrical threaded and taper threaded). Findings: It was concluded from the present study that the average value of hardness was lower compared to base alloy at the zone of nugget. Novelty/Improvement: Friction Stir Welding procedure can be economically utilized as a part of welding of different aluminum compounds.Keywords

Speed of the connection establishment and communication in wireless local area networks is a very important aspect to be considered along with achieving faster authentication of the communicating nodes to make the overall system efficient. While few standards developed by IEEE were easy to implement and had minimum hardware and software requirements but did not provide much desired security, others provided a secure environment to carry out the data transmission but took ample time to provide initial authentication services. In this paper a new method, FALAN-AKA, i.e. fast wireless local area network authentication and key agreement has been proposed which provides minimal delay in the initial authentication and provides the security of data by encrypting it.Keywords

Artificial neural network based equalizers can be used for equalization in coherent optical OFDM systems. The artificial neural network based multilayer layer perceptron is a feed-forward network consists of one hidden layer with one or more hidden nodes between its input and output layers and can be trained by using back propagation algorithm. However, this algorithm suffers from slow convergence rate, depending on the size of artificial neural network. The training function can update the weights and the bias values according to the resilient back-propagation algorithm, which is computationally more efficient than other training algorithms, and it performs an approximation to the global minimization. It has been seen that an optimal equalizer based on maximum a-posterior probability (MAP) criterion can be implemented using Radial basis function network. In a RBF equalizer, centres are fixed using K-mean clustering and weights are trained using LMS algorithm. RBF equalizer can mitigate ISI interference effectively providing minimum BER plot. In this paper A Radial Basis Function network for adaptive channel equalization in Coherent Optical OFDM Systems has been presented its result has been compared with MLP based artificial neural network.Keywords

Data mining is widely used in educational field to find the problems arise in this field is called Educational data mining (EDM). The higher institutes aimed to provide quality education to its student and to provide excellent graduates for the country growth. Best way to achieve this level quality education is to analyze the student academic performance. This analysis will help to identify students who are at risk and needs special attention. But student performance depends upon various factors. Number of studies has been carried out on these influencing factors. In this paper, we explore five categories of factors which positively or negatively affect the student performance. These categories are: Family information, Academic information, Personality, Management skill and Miscellaneous. This study will help the students to know their weak points which degrade their performance and also helpful for faculty and institutes management to counsel and motivate the students to improve their abilities who would be found at high risk of failure.Keywords

Optical fibers are now widely used in communication systems, mainly because they offer much faster data transmission rates. But by increasing transmission rates over longer distances, the data is affected by nonlinear inter-symbol interference caused by dispersion phenomena. Efficient and low-cost dispersion compensation is necessary to achieve useful transmission distances in optical communication systems at higher bit rates. Adaptive equalizers can be used to compensate the effects caused by nonlinear inter symbol inference, i.e., restoring the original signal as transmitted. This paper evaluates the performance of single layer feed forward equalizer using least mean square algorithm and multilayer perceptron equalizer based on artificial neural networks using back error propagation algorithm for chromatic dispersion compensation at bit rate of 12.5 Gb/s. This paper compares these two adaptation techniques in coherent receiver based on analogue electronic dispersion equalizers by simulation and experiment.Keywords

A study on the dietary habits and nutrient intake of 400 school going adolescent girls was conducted at Kanpur Nagar selected purposively of Kanpur district during 2017-2018. All the girls within the age group of 13-19 years studying in 8th to 12th standards were selected from 10 schools of Kanpur. The dietary habits and food frequencies of girls was assessed by using questionnaire method. Information about food consumption pattern was gathered through 24-hours diet recall method and their nutrient intake was calculated by using the values given in the nutritive value of Indian foods (Gopalan et al., 1989). The nutrient intake was compared with the RDA suggested by ICMR (2010). The results of the study revealed that about 31.5 per cent of adolescent girls skipped their breakfast, 22.0 per cent their lunch and 11 per cent their dinner. Water intake pattern indicated that about 28.7 per cent of girls had only 2-4 glasses in a day. More than half (58.7%) were found to have water with their meals followed by 18.7 per cent preferred tea or coffee or juice with their meals. While having food, 48.3 per cent girls were busy in watching television. About 74.5 per cent girls were nonvegetarian and 40.5 per cent were found to have fast foods two to three times in a week. The per cent adequacy of energy, protein, calcium, iron, vitamin A, folic acid and zinc varied from 24-79 whereas the per cent adequacy of fats, 145 was found to be higher in the girls than the RDA. The results of the study showed that there is immense need to improve the dietary habits of school going adolescent girls to make their life nutritionally sound.Keywords

The present study was conducted in Kanpur (U.P.) among 400 school going adolescent girls (13-19 years) for finding out their clinical problems, general health status and nutritional awareness. From the investigation conducted it was observed that 97.2 per cent school going adolescent girls were suffering from problems of hair; 43 per cent teeth , 36.5 per cent nails, 31.5 per cent skin, 30.7 per cent lips and tongue, 24 per cent eyes and 13.5 per cent from problems related to gums. Regarding their health status, about 78 per cent girls were suffering from general health problems like constipation, acidity, headache etc. Irregular menstrual cycle was reported by 35.5 per cent of girls and extra hair growth by 17.3 per cent of girls. Only 9.3 per cent girls were aware of their haemoglobin level and 29.5 per cent of their blood group. De worming course and vaccination was done by 12.3 per cent and 58.5 per cent adolescent girls, respectively. Knowledge that egg yolk is rich in cholesterol was reported by only 16.5 per cent of girls, similarly only 27.3 per cent knew that yellow fruits and vegetables are rich sources of vitamin A. Awareness of fats restriction for preventing heart problems and obesity was found only in 34.8 per cent of girls. Less than fifty per cent of girls were not aware of the fact that iron deficiency causes anaemia. It was observed that the health status of the girls was not good and the nutritional awareness level was also low. Therefore, it is the time to take immediate steps to overcome the problems of adolescents. Family, peer group, medical organizations, media and school together should plan and make needful efforts so that they live healthy life.Keywords
