Abstract

A Multi attribute decision making model for evaluation of alternative Flexible manufacturing systems and rank them suitably when their attribute features are presented in a combination of cardinal and ordinal values is discussed. A decision supporting model which readily accepts the cardinal and ordinal data for the attribute features of the alternatives and gives out the evaluation of the alternatives in terms of ranks is developed.

Abstract

The utilization of battery can be improved by designing an appropriate charger capable of fast charging. Photovoltaic panel is used as input source for converter. The objective of this paper is to investigate the converter topologies and control techniques for fast charging of a battery which are required for its optimum design. A charging monitoring system is implemented based on converter technologies. Experimental simulation work is carried out in MATLAB-7.7b. A PI-gain controller feedback is used with reference voltage of 15 V for the ripple free output voltage.

Abstract

This paper reports on the effect of water emulsified diesel fuel combustion on brake thermal efficiency, brake specific fuel consumption, Oxides of Nitrogen (NO_x) and Hydrocarbon emissions in a diesel engine. The experiments were conducted on a single cylinder four stroke cycle diesel engine. Initially test was conducted using pure diesel. Two tests also conducted for diesel fuel with 10 % water and diesel fuel with 20% of water by keeping Polysorbate 20 as solvent. From the test results, it was found that the water emulsification has a potential to improve brake thermal efficiency and brake specific fuel consumption. Emulsions of diesel and water are often promoted as being able to overcome the difficulty of simultaneously reducing emissions of both oxides of nitrogen (NO_x) and hydro carbon emissions in a diesel engine.

Abstract

Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the tissue dissolution efficacy of Azadirachta indica (A. indica) irrigant and sodium hypochlorite. Materials and Methods: 40 bovine muscle tissue specimens of equal dimensions were used in the experiment. Based on tissue specimen treatment, they were divided into four test groups - 3%NaOCl (Group I), 7.5% A. indica irrigant (Group II), alternative use of 3%NaOCl and 7.5% A. indica irrigant (Group III) and control group as distilled water (Group IV). Tissue specimens were weighed before and after placing in test solutions at 2 different time intervals (30,60 minutes). Results: The results revealed that 3%NaOCl showed highest tissue dissolution followed by alternative use of 3%NaOCl. and A. indica irrigant, A. indica alone and distilled water (Group I >III>II>IV). The larger the duration of contact with irrigant better is the tissue dissolution. Conclusion: 7.5% A. indica irrigant alone does not have any tissue dissolving property but in combination it acts as a neutral solution neither increasing nor decreasing the capability of 3%NaOCl.
