Objective
To assess the test-retest reliability, internal consistency, concurrent, construct and convergent validity of the Bengali translated IIQ-7 and SF-36.
Study Design
Correlation design Background There is currently no validity or reliability studies for the Bengali translated Incontinence Impact Questionnaire (IIQ-7) and Short Form-36 (SF-36) for use in Bangladeshi postpartum population.
Methods and Measures
Data comparisons of two groups between the ages of 18-54. Group 1 (n=20): subjects with previous history of childbirth and history of urinary incontinence; Group 2 (n=20): between ages of 18-54, no history of previous childbirth who completed the Bengali translated SF-36 and IIQ-7.
Results
Test-retest reliability (ICC = .94-1.0) and internal consistency of both IIQ-7 and SF-36 (Cronbach's alpha = .94-.99) were good. Both tests demonstrated good convergent, construct, and concurrent validity.
Conclusion
The Bengali translated SF-36 and IIQ-7 demonstrated good test-retest reliability, internal consistency, construct, concurrent, and convergent validity for utilization in Bangladeshi postpartum population.

Objective: To outline the specific socio-economic barriers to maternal health faced by Bangladeshi women.
Study Design: Review and Analysis of Literature
Background: Bangladesh is a country with over one third of the population living in poverty and another one third living just above poverty level. The World Health Organization (2010) indicates that Bangladesh has poor prenatal and postpartum care, nutritional deficiencies, high incidence of non-skilled birth attendant utilization, and the second highest maternal mortality and morbidity rates next to sub-Saharan Africa. Women living in Bangladesh are at high risk for maternal mortality and morbidity in the postpartum period directly related to socio-economic status.
Conclusion: The need for socio-economic relief for women living in rural Bangladesh remains an issue that needs to be addressed to fully address maternal health and maternal morbidities in the postpartum period.
