Abstract
Objective: To establish the intra-rater reliability, inter-rater reliability and concurrent validity of the Hammersmith Infant Neurological Examination in 12 months old high-risk infants.
Materials and method: 31 high risk infants with age 12 months were assessed on Hammersmith Infant Neurological Examination (HINE), Infant Neurological International Battery (INFANIB) and by Pediatrician for establishing intra, as well as inter-rater reliability and concurrent validity of HINE
Results: Intra-rater and inter-rater reliability was excellent for overall global scores (ICC .97 and .97) and its grades (ICC .93 and .96). The global scores of HINE with INFANIB shows adequate validity(ICC .70) but grades of HINE with INFANIB and Pediatrician grades shows excellent validity (ICC .94 and .98)
Conclusion: HINE provides reliable and valid measurements that can be used for the examination of infants with neurodevelopmental or behavioral abnormality.
