Model of Human Motion in Physiotherapy Contribution to the Theoretical Foundation of a Physiotherapeutic Motion Term

Background: Based on the question how future sustainability and competence can de developed against the background of social modernisation requirements in general and particularly in the health system in this article the case is made and founded that the sustainability of physiotherapy as a profession in large part lies in the complete acquisition of the underlying motion term.

Objective/Method: The aim of this article was to elaborate a physiotherapeutic motion term, to establish a corresponding model of human motion and to derive the resulting consequences for further development of physiotherapy.

Results: On the basis of the determination of character and function of physiotherapy the model of human motion in physiotherapy specifying an explicit motion term was developed.

Conclusions: The illustrated model shows the requirements of the possibility to theoretically found a physiotherapeutic motion term. In this way physiotherapeutic practice as well as scientific development of physiotherapy in Germany can be promoted in the sense of sustainability by assuming responsibility for this matter.
